... when you indoctrinate your friends' children without even knowing it .... they listen to GBS in your car all the time (that's what they get for carpooling so much). They know the words to Donkey Riding, Process Man, Walk on the Moon, When I Am King, etc. They spend the weekend in Quebec and manage to i.d. Great Big Sea on the radio more

  • Re: Anyone have a new job for a washed-up teacher?

Columbine - Sounds like a fun road trip to me. The more the merrier. Vermont is full of people doing what they love and a few other things besides to pay the bills. There's a popular bumper sticker that plays of the title of that famous song: ''Moonlight in Vermont ... or starve.'' Anne - I'm trying to remember what grade you teach -

Hello from Vermont, Anne ~ This caught my eye. I've been lurking more than usual lately, not feeling much like saying anything. More on my GBS funk later..... but I had to just toss you a greeting and say  BREATHEToday is a new day. You sound tired, stressed, weary. You might need a little time off. Thanksgiving is coming soon with hopefully

Ducking in after a too-long absence ..... to Bob fans especially and anyone else who may be here as well ... Do check out a little gem of a news article posted by GenTaylor in the ''In the Media'' section. The thread is called ''Sea Change'' and it's a piece with a Q&A interview with Bob talking about how/why the band makes their

  • Re: Sea change

What a nice find - a new feature with a real interview with one of the boys talking about how and why they make their music. Great stuff! Hats off to Gen. Taylor for his/her? relentless scouring of the web for new material. I love this thread to catch the latest news as the band travels around the continent. Your efforts are truly ...

  • Re: The only thing I could think of...

Great memory. Carbon Leaf did play at a waterfront festival in Burlington, Vt. in summer 06. Photos from the concert are on the website for WNCS-FM out of Montpelier. It's www.pointfm.com. Plug the band's name into the search bar and the pics pop up. Waves across the border from Vermont! Cheers,

Ooops! Almost forgot one of the most fun next steps ... tell everyone you know and see how many more fans you can recruit. It's easier than you'd think. Have fun!

What next? That's easy. 1. Get all of the music into your own collection. The live CDs are the most fun, especially the ones with the DVDs to watch. 2. Play music over and over. 3. Watch DVDs.4. Scour this website for photos and video clips from concerts.5. Check out the You Tube clips. 6. Scour the other threads here for the ones you like. 7. Read

  • Re: "The Shipping News"

Thank you, Darci. I think I tried to read this book two or three times before I knew of the GBS connection with the film. Watched the film several years ago and then tried to go at the book again. I can't bust through the first 30 pages or so. It's just too strange for me. Too much work to follow it. Maybe I should stick with Dan Brown ....
