    Writers forum

Ive noticed a few writers topics poping about, so maybe a writers forum where we could toss around ideas and evaluate others writing, maybe have contests and whatnot. Could be all kind of writing too, im not just talking novels, im also saying poetry, music, short stories and that stuff. Just an ida, but I thinks it could be interesting if not fun.

    Hey MasterVolo,

Check out the Artists Forum - a writing thread was started yesterday, and that's probably best place if you want to start one as well.

    Cheers,

Hi!  I'm the one who started that thread, and I think the Artist's forum is a good place for it.  Still, TinaCap advised me to visit the writer's thread in the General Chat forum.

    Re: Writers forum

I don't think it matters so much where the thread lays anchor folks, as long as everybody can find it when they need it. I directed Sarah there after she started the thread in the Artists' Forum because the conversation was already underway in General Chat. I thought it would be helpful to have us all at the same party, that's all.

It's interesting though, when I originally started the topic I thought about where to put it. After considering the Artists' Forum, I finally decided on General Chat because that seemed like the place for it. Some writers consider themselves artists I guess, but that narrows the field somewhat. I just consider myself a writer and the thought of stepping under the artist umbrella made me a bit itchy. 'Course I think too much.

It's really up to the people. If I have something to contribute, I'll reply wherever the comment is posted.

    Cheers.

That's cool, Tina, 'cause I am no longer getting any responses in the General Chat forum...Sad

It's obvious that I'm going to need to do some research before I begin writing, though the first thing I need to figure out is when to set the story - MasterVolo said that Bob's song is probably set in the early 20th century due to the velocity at which the ship was traveling when it hit the shore.  I want to set it back as far as I can to preserve as much mystique as possible, though it has to be sometime after ships moved from wind-power to engine-power... I think the best starting point (I was toying with the idea of writing it as a series of journal entries from the POV of a specific crewman) will come into focus after I get this little kink worked out.Huh? Maybe?
