Canadian Director Sturla Gunnarsson has a Barbarian Horde of fans behind new film - Beowulf and Grendel
Beowulf A Powerful Epic So Right For Our Time
The film opens with the misty eden paradise of Iceland as the back drop. Once you get past the feast unveiled before your eyes the epic tale of Beowulf begins to unfold. The film leaves your senses hunger for more. The battle between good and evil is as old as time itself and it is now time.
A handsome warrior prepares to do battle against a horrid creature, from the very pits of hell itself. But Lead Actor Scottish Gerard Butler is more than a pretty face with an accent that can turn any hot blooded woman into a marshmallow. He is an actor's actor. He has the ability to become the character and in this film he is Beowulf. He banishes his sword with a ready sureness and power like Thor himself!!
Canadian Sarah Polley plays the lead female role and her strong presence in the film reinforces the notion that looks are deceiving. I am sure a portion of the male audience will feel that a "Sea Hag" never looked so good. Make no mistake we cannot judge a book by its cover and with Selma she brings forth a powerful woman. There are many powerful women throughour history and Selma fits this mold.
Canadian director Sturla Gunnarsson is a master at the art of using breathtaking scenery to dazzle the eyes and truly cast a spell on the audience. Once the spell has been cast you are drawn like a moth to a flame to the screen and leave the theater emotionally drained but wanting more.
The coming together of a great location, cast, director and an epic tale is the glue that cements this historic epic in the hearts and minds of all who see it.
A must see film for a time in this world where we surely need an escape and a hero and that hero is ----Beowulf
I had the great pleasure of seeing the film at the World Premiere in Toronto where the spell has indeed been cast upon me and leaving me hunger for more until I see the film. This is one spell I will never want to be removed for it dances on the screen like pure magic.
The film so inspired me that I started a Rotten Tomatoes Beowulf Group and at the time of this post has over 10000 views and growing!!!
