    Alan on CBC

I was listening to a new CBC radio program yesterday - something called Freestyle. It was their first episode and one of the interviews was with Alan! What a nice surprise! There were a couple of stories that I hadn't heard before. He told of how he presented flowers to Bo Derek when she was in town shooting a movie when he was 10 - and how he happened to see her again last year (and presented her with a flower again). The first time around he got a kiss on the cheek, the second time only a handshake - lol.

Part of the movie ORCA was filmed in Petty Harbour. Bo lost her leg to the Killer Whale. There was another whale movie "A Whale For The Killing" also filmed there.

Alan was in that movie if I'm correct. He was the little boy who spotted the whale in the cove. Or something like that.

I actually just saw that movie a little while ago. I missed the Alan part though. Frown I didn't realize that it was...is violent the word. I mean I just didn't expect you know the whale to start hunting people and ripping people's legs off.

I mean it was a film about a whale so I thought it would be 'nice'. If that even makes sense. baffled It was very graphic too with the whale on the ship and the baby and everything.

Okay I'll stop talking now. Razz

Film is a passion for me. Please don't get the two movies confused.
Alan was in 'A Whale for the Killing', based on a Farley Mowat novel, screen written by Lionel Chetwynd. It was about beached whale shot at Qidi Vidi. A great family movie. It's hard to get a hold of some of Farley's older stuff.
On the other hand, Orca, Killer Whale, with Bo Derek shot at Petty Harbour was a 'local circus' with a killing whale.
You might also want to check out 'The Snow Walkers'. It has absolutely nothing to do with GBS but is a well done film based on the short storyof the same name. It is a tragic look at life in the Canadian Arctic at the end of WW2.

I've seen that one. It's good, isn't it?

I'm patiently waiting for a re-make of Two Against the North.
