    Whistles...any suggestions?

Howdy!  I am looking to buy a fairly inexpensive D whistle.   Any suggestions?  I think I have taken my $10 whistles as far as they can go.  Any one have a recommendation for one in the $30 - 50 range?  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Susato offers a line of good mid-tier whistles. They are somewhat easier to get a good sound out of than a traditional metal whistle. Bob used to play Susatos on stage but I think he upgraded a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I checked the Burke Whisltes but they are out of my price league right now, so I'll try the susato's.

I like Dixon whistles, although unfortunately The Whistle Shop stopped carrying them. I haven't tried ordering direct from Dixon. I love Burke whistles, but I don't want to pay that much, either, though I think they're worth it for the low whistles.

I'm guessing at $10 you are talking about a Clarke Sweetone whistle, the Clarke Original is only a few bucks more but In my mind is a far better whistle. Generation makes a good mid priced whistles  but as otheres have suggesteted you can't go wrong with a Susato.

I also had a suggestion for a Generation "tweaked" whistle.  Unfortunatly there are no music store is my area that offer Susato or the "tweaked" whistles.

Thanks for all your suggestions.  I just am irritated by the sounds of my $10 whistles, (I have 3 and when you get to the higher notes, they just sound dead or flat), or it could just be me Surprise

The "Oak" tinwhistle, which of course isn't made of wood, sounds pretty bright.  I forget the manufacturer, but it shouldn't be too tough to find online.
