You are not alone in that age bracket. That is what amazed me at my first show. I looked around the room and there were people there from 8 to 80. Usually people have no interest in listening to the music their parents (and certainly not grand parents) listen to and vice versa.

Hey I resemble that remark. 58 on my next birthday! My mom's first concert was GBS, experienced at age 85! The band invited her out to the bar with htem, but she declined, saying she doesn't drink beer. Can you imagine??????? I was dying! Anne

Hello Anne, I'm a 56 french groupie. I imagine very well that "you were dying". I would have felt the same ! The age doesn't mean anything, whatever you do. I'm very glad to listen to them, and my 23 daughter is "a little tired" to hear them each time se comes home. It's funny ! since I discovered them, I listen the cds on and on, read the lyrics because I don't understand all the words, and sing their songs. It brings me joy and energy, and no one, nothing could be compared to them.
Other more 55 groupies around here ?

What next? That's easy. 1. Get all of the music into your own collection. The live CDs are the most fun, especially the ones with the DVDs to watch. 2. Play music over and over. 3. Watch DVDs. 4. Scour this website for photos and video clips from concerts. 5. Check out the You Tube clips. 6. Scour the other threads here for the ones you like. 7. Read the boys' blogs! 8. Patiently wait with the rest of us for the birth of GBS X, the album they're assembling now. 9. Watch for more concert dates. 10. Put the May release date of "Robin Hood" on your calendar and make plans to go see it. Will Alan be a hit? Will there be GBS tunes in the score? 11. Repeat all of the above. Welcome aboard! Cheers,

Ooops! Almost forgot one of the most fun next steps ... tell everyone you know and see how many more fans you can recruit. It's easier than you'd think. Have fun!

Re: Oh, to be a groupie at age 57...nice
Hi. "it's like chocolate in may brain", good comparison, very good !!! I never thought about chocolate that way, but since I discovered them, in august 2009, it can't stop listening to them, over and over. They bring me energy, joy, and maybe I "threw my pains in the sea of no cares". In fact, it's a little special for me. At the end of July I learnt I had a breast cancer. I was told it was not too bad, but anyway it's cancer, and not very easy to deal with. Then after the first surgery (my mood was very good in fact), I heard GBS and it was like fresh air and energy, just what I needed ! I had not felt like that since I don't know when. I saw the end of a concert on tv, and immediately I wanted to know who they were, and listen their cds. I think they'll never play in france, what a pity ! I can only watch the dvd concerts. I don't listen anything else now, though I used to listen many different things before. What do you do now ? Listen, watch, sing, shout, jsut like you do know. one, two...one two three four.....

andromede, I am glad you find joy in GBS's music. It is infectious, for sure. I hope you have continued to heal and think positive thoughts. Anne
