    CALGARY, ALBERTA -- 09/07/09 -- The 2009 Grey Cup Festival is pleased to announce that ticket sales to the Molson Canadian Quick Six Saloon, Scotiabank Gala Concert, and the Gibson's Finest CFL Player Awards will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 11th at 12:00 pm MST at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone

    SCOTIABANK GALA CONCERT - SADDLEDOME - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 28TH

    The Scotiabank Gala Concert, the premier concert event of the Grey Cup weekend, will feature a cross section of award winning Canadian artists from coast to coast leading a celebration of Canadian football! Sophie Milman, The Canadian Tenors, Divine Brown, and George Canyon will take the stage before Canadian party rockers GREAT BIG SEA headline the final bill of the concert. Ticket costs will be $39 & $59 dollars plus service charges.

    That is a very unusual gala lineup... I don't know two of the acts, but Divine Brown, the Canadian Tenors and Great Big Sea could not be more different. Would still go if I were in town... I love Divine Brown, but how did Bob put it in the podcast on opening acts... "they went over with our audience like a lead balloon." Unless Calgary Grey Cup fans are different than Toronto Grey Cup fans, A drunken football audience won't take well to this lineup. Last year the majority of the crowd wasn't really there for the show... they were playing in game zones and crowding around the beer trucks with the dancing beer girls. It was a really rough crowd.

    Thanks for the info!  Now I know what I'll be doing on Friday at 12 MST.   

     Sophie MIlman is a jazz singer with a beautiful voice.  It will be interesting to see what sort of a crowd is drawn by such a diverse lineup.  Seeing the boys in such a venue will be a new experience for me.  I'm looking forward to it!

    Tickets go onsale tomorrow am... not Friday.

     I'll be there... and I won't be drinking.. and I DO like football... but don't pay MUCh attention, lol.  I'll be all about our b'ys!!!

    sounds like just the kind of thing I'd like, but then, I'm no football fan.  More of a smorgasbord than a neatly packaged 'show' but it would be interesting to be there.
