POGEY ~ anyone heard of them?

So, one of my friends told me about Pogey, and showed me a couple of there songs. They sound really good. You should check them out...they have a couple songs up on their myspace if anyone is interessted.

Anyone here heard of them or seen them live?

Darn right we have - Pogey is a great Maritime band from Halifax - original and covers - great bunch of guys that get the crowd up and dancing just as much as GBS. www.pogey.ca! Check them out!

Heyyyy forgetmenot7! I'm a huge fan of Pogey too and I recommend goin to their live shows if you can...the recordings can't make up for the atmosphere of the concerts...kinda like GBS...ummm...as for CDs tho...I recommend "Make Some Noise"..it's a recording of a live show at the Piper's Pub in Antigonish....a classic spot to hang...and during their set they do a few GBS songs I think...also on that cd they do a cover of the Beatles' "Saw Her Standing There" which is pretty sweet....anyways..that's my two cents...

GBS80 - thanks for your advice, much apreciated!!

I think i wil go out and buy the live album, as well and 'pogey'. I love the song "here i go" which they have the music video for Smile

I would love so much to see them live if i get a chance, im sure they would be awsome. It seems like they mostly do pub shows? I took a peak at there tour dates page and theres like 5 dates for when im going to be in NS next summer, but there all the pubs :-( and I'm not legally allowed there....

Was this what they were talking about in that Newfie parody version of the Molson "I am Canadian" radio ads a while back?

I'm nawt awn Pogey, and I'm nawt married to my sayster

'Cause that's all I thought of when I saw this thread. I actually have that track and all the other provincial parodies.

Any Newfoundlanders or other Canadian OKPers want to fill me in on this?
