Who's going to Ann Arbor?
Anticipating the concert on 9/10 and wondering who's going and if there were any plans for "get togethers" before or after the concert. I love to talk to other "Great Big Sea Gulls", as my friend calls me Wondering if there are any fellow Michiganders going on the Ships and Dip Cruise, would love to chat and share ideas.

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
I'm going to the A2 show but am leaving after teaching at school all day and hoping I make it for a quick bite to eat and then show time. Then it will be right back home for bed before getting up for another day facing children in a busy media center... I'm jealous that you're doing the cruise! What fun!

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
We went to the Akron show (from Royal Oak) this past weekend. It was so great. I planned it that way since DH teaches college (in Livoina) and I knew that a Wednesday night show would just be too hard for him. Plus I would have to get up and get the kids to school the next day too. Well the Ohio show was so unbelievable I am dying to go to the AA show now too. Still AA is over an hour away and I know we would not get home until 1:00 am or later so a baby sitter would be an issue too. Ah man, it sucks to get older and boring. We seem to turn to dust after 11:00 pm now days. I wish they would come back to the Royal Oak Music theater. I saw them there in 2004. I was 6 months pregnant with my youngest. She is my rocker now, I blame it on the concert.

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
I'll be there, with my friends!!! :D
Hometown is the best place to see a show. I saw them there for the first time in 2006. So, as you can imagine, the Michigan theater has a very special place in my

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
Shelley, I see you are in Royal Oak too. It was good to get away from the dream cruise (we live right near woodward) to go to the Akron Concert. Talk about good timing. Did you see GBS when they came to Royal Oak Music Theater in 2004? (March I believe).

I'm a local so I'll be there, bringing a couple people from work for their first exposure as well. (It would be more but gg michigan theater ticket prices)

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
The Royal Oak Music Theater in 2004 was my very first GBS concert, & I’ve been going to their concerts every time they come to Michigan ever since. Michigan Theater in AA is a nice location, but it’s tough on bouncing b/c of its angled floor & seating. I’d love to see GBS play at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. It’s a small venue, has a flat floor & no seating, & it has fabulous beers on tap at the bar running parallel to the floor. Of course, they probably don’t allow kids to come in as a result of those fabulous beers, so I’m guessing seeing GBS there is but a pipe dream. In any event, a few of us (four to seven folks) are hitting the Arbor Brewing Company for dinner & a pint (or two) before the concert. It’s about 5 blocks away from the Michigan Theater, & there’s a decent parking structure across from the pub. Anyone else going there?

That was the 1st time I saw them in concert too. I was pregnant and my DH had called to reserve a table for us, it was good. As much as I loved to dance, I wasn't in very good shape for it. Where else in MI have they been? A2 is the only place I have seen and they always seem to be at very inconvenient times (like a Tuesday night.) St. Andrews would be fun.

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
Hi disphd. Since the Royal Oak concert, they’ve played Ann Arbor& Kalamazoo, & are at Ann Arbor again this year. The Kalamazoo concert was the most fun I’ve ever had at a concert, but it exemplified the meaning of inconvenient, considering it, too, was in the middle of the week, & Kalamazoo is a few hours away from the Metro Detroit area. We drove back in a snow storm, & I was worthless at work the next day (couldn’t take it off, as I had already taken the day of the concert off). Still, it was better than having to fly somewhere to see a concert, like so many hardy folk do!

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
We're going! Can't wait. What time does the "will call" open to pick up the tickets? We've never been to the Michigan theater. What about parking? Any suggestions?

I'm local so I'll just drive in and use one of the parking structures downtown.

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
They have played at St. Andrews Hall, in March of 2002, if I recall correctly, the day before St. Patrick's day. Big fun! Carbon Leaf opened as well, and it was my first exposure to them, and I became an instant fan. Looking forward to the Ann Arbor show! I enjoy seeing them at the Michigan Theatre (but do wish they'd come back to the RO music theatre...not as much of a drive for me). mini2z---There are two parking structures right near the theatre, so parking isn't much of a problem at all. The one way streets are what always throw me off in AA, though...not sure what time will call is open.

Thank you - I think we'll get there early, get some dinner & find the will call...I thought I saw something, somewhere about 5pm...? I can honestly say I've never been to AA, my ds will be in heaven as he's a Michigan fan and GBS! Can't wait...

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
They already played St. Andrews Hall? Rats! I always come late to these parties. (I started listening to them in 2003.) Sounds like it would have been a great concert. How was the venue for their style of concert?

Re: Who's going to Ann Arbor?
I'll be at the show in the 3rd row!!! They were awesome the last time they were there. I hope I don't have to substitute teach that day or I'll be super tired.
