Hi everyone,

Ok, I must be living under a rock.  At Shamrockfest in Washington D.C. back on March 15, actor Russell Crowe
was on stage with Great Big Sea. ( if you haven't see any of the footage, there's tons on YouTube )

Anyway, I had no idea that Russell Crowe even had a band, after a friend of mine on FaceBook joined his FaceBook group, I checked out Russell's website, and find out he's got a band.  I then look at the member's list, and see that Alan is a member of the band ! ... wow, now that's neat ! ... I had no clue.

Their album was released in 2006, and was produced by Alan Doyle, so this is old news, but is new for me :-)

Oh well, if anyone wants to chat about it, it would be fun, and interesting ! 

By the way, one song Crowe sings is "  How Did We Get From Saying I Love You (Doyle) "

Alan talked extensively about his Crowe Collaboration during his interview with Chris Batstone (K-Rock), the audio file of which can be found on this very site on the Members Only page.

It is also mentioned by Bob and Sean in Podcast 2 when Alan leaves to go to the bathroom.  Sean says something to the effect of, "[Alan] meets one movie star and now he walks around with his own light crew." Bob then offers, "Yeah, it took me a half hour to get past his entourage on the way in". (If you listened to that podcast and didn't catch that part, I'm pretty sure he was talking about Russell Crowe)

Kinda funny...  sitting here at work and the iPod is on shuffle, but GBS's "How Did We Get..." is playing right now as I type this...  hand to God. 

At any rate, I do really like TOFOG's CD, "My Hand, My Heart", produced by Alan with many of the songs co-written by Alan.  I do not, however, like Mr. Crowe's version of "How Did We Get...".  Not that it is wildly different, mind you, but I just like hearing Alan's voice for that one more than Russell's.  I know that you can find the CD on iTunes, Frosty.  It's worth a listen.

Frosty, if you read Anne's Review from Collingswood, NJ show in April of 2007, Alan mentions how he almost started a hoagie war because of the sweatshirt he was wearing that said "North Bergen."  I'd put money on it being identical to Russell's shirt in this picture!

I had a lil laugh when I saw this. I am a big fan of Russell Crowe, so from the first day that I heard he was working with Alan, I could not believe it. I have the cd, courtesy of a pal, and absolutely love it. Its a bit weird hearing Alan do backing vocals on his own song, but its cool nonetheless.

I knew that Alan was a part of TOFOG, but that didn't stop me from being pleasantly surprised when I found the fan page on Facebook. I loved the videos. Especially 'Testify.' Is that one wicked song or what?

That's been there for a while, Nick.  It's the link to the Members Exclusive things such as podcasts, and things like that.  You want to be able to see them you have to be logged into your account.

I don't have a signed copy....but, I do have the picture poster-sized thanks to me doing a test print at my old job in BC.  Hi-res pics with poster-making printers can be a good thing.  Not that I wouldn't say no to buying a signed print though...
