How much does Allan A'Dayle get to sing in this film? Does anyone know? I too am getting a *Kingdom of Heaven* feeling here. :-) Of course, that won't be anything compared to what I'll be feeling if William the Conqueror's men make any appearances...

Thieves steal cameras from Pinewood Studios
Thieves have broken into the world-famous Pinewood Studios and stolen thousands of pounds worth of filming equipment that was used to produce Hollywood movies

The camera equipment, used in the Gullivers Travellers movie and the new Robin Hood film starring Russell Crowe, was stolen from the studios on Friday, police said.

The thieves cut through padlocks at a back gate before smashing windows and removing doors from their hinges to get inside the on-site props building.

Police said that the burglary at the studios in Iver Heath, Bucks., happened in the early hours of the morning.

Detective Constable Sebastian Wilson, who is investigating the break in, confirmed that high value items were taken in the raid.

"They stole various specialist cameras and lenses which are worth a lot of money," he said.

"They have also stolen a Sony SRW 5000, a device which converts footage into high definition format and which alone is worth £65,000 pounds.

"The thieves were disturbed by a security guard who believes that one of the vehicles used in the daring raid was an expensive silver coloured sports car, possibly a Lexus.

"I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have been offered specialist filming equipment for sale or who saw vehicles driving in the area at speed."

Man, that was fun, Frosty. Liked the dog up on the windy hill with the woman ....looks like it's going to be awesome , although I'm getting an über-heroic 'kingdom of Heaven' style sense here. Where is the merry merry music making gonna fit in?

For anyone interested here's some very good teaser footage somebody shot, while filming was in progress, pretty spectular I must say. I have no clue why I didn't come across this til now, as this was filmed back in June, but anyway, here it is.

In this video, watch at one point ( 1 min 3 seconds into the movie ) where one of the row boats in the ocean suddenly speeds up after being hit sideways by a wave, without them having to paddle..... if only this technology ( gas engine ) existed when these men really lived !

I'm cheesed about the summary because England hasn't had a Norman invasion since 1066 A.D. (as the tour bus driver on my London tour pointed out, "This was the last time our country succumbed to foreign domination"), and that was about five generations before Robin Hood's time. What's fact and what's legend about the man who inspired the Robin Hood tale (there most likely was a real-life inspiration, as is usually the case in legends like this) is a matter for endless debate, but all variations of the story make one thing crystal clear: Robin Hood lived in the time of Richard the Lionheart, who was the GREAT-GREAT-GRANDSON of William the Conqueror. *end history nerd rant*

Actually, from what I understand, nine of his "mates" were with Russell, and one source did state "in case, anyone's interested, Alan Doyle was there, front and center..." I figured it was a dead giveaway when I heard they were singing Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69"; in fact, that they were singing at all. Alan's recently expressed wish to get back to concerts means, at least to me, that he's dying to sing in front of an audience and I doubt he'd have missed a chance like that one. The source was www.murphsplace.com , June 28. So Alan was definitely there. Front and center. But didn't you expect that?

Thanks for the photos! But personally, I feel that the earlier gossip column fluff doesn't belong in the OKP. If Russell Crowe is Alan Doyle's good friend, is it not disrespectful to post stuff like Perez Hilton's dodgy rumors about Russell?

I feel the same way; I love the photos, but hate the gossip and rumours. I'm with you GuitarGoddess, it does seem a bit disrespectful.

Yep, no doubting that the gorgeous bearded dude in those pictures is Alan. Even the shot that was taken from further back...its easy to pick out Alan in a crowd. So many of us have seen him perform a lot and we know what he looks like, with or without a beard.

Those rumours were frakin' hilarious. Russell and Ridley fighting...yeesh. Whoever starts these rumours needs a life.Those two have made many great movies together. It's almost as stupid as saying that Alan and Russ don't get along. After all Russell did say he has the same synergy in music with Alan as he does in movies with Ridley.

Can't wait for the movie. I'll be there to see it the day it opens!

Poor shagger, Steve Smith is such a dweeb! If we're really lucky, Scott will also get to sing in the movie. His "exceptional singing ability" is what got him his first break in showbiz. His solo album, released in 1989, was produced by Richard Carpenter (of The Carpenters).

About that "wretched summary", where is it on IMDB? The only summary I can find is for the plot: "The story of an archer in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion who fights against the Norman invaders and becomes the legendary hero known as Robin Hood."
