I like the first one too - Anne - is that "Robbie" Burns the same as "Robert" Burns, I wonder?

I can hear that as a song in my mind's ear.....

Well, three-quarters of my ancestors were Scottish. Does that count?

Hey, last night I just had to catch up with the site, saw the new title, then not 20 minutes later I was reading Moby Dick before bed (yeah, I really was...) and came upon the phrase "fortune's favor" right there.  Funny.

But when (imagine a really good whine here) do we get some west coast dates?

    Peace, Ann

Sadly Alan and Murray told me after the show in AC, that hold on for your life didnt make the cut.

Oh no.  Was that the "1, 2, 3, 4" song?  I really liked that one!  I was hoping to hear it again on the CD.  :-(

    Re: New Album "Fortune's Favour"

    futonnl:

I know, and it was ok, but for it suffers because of version of songs on there that I already knew, and do prefer over GBS's versions. Ron Hynes Tickle Cove Pond I like better, Sweet Forget Me Not ( and man did I hate GBS changing the title of the song ) I don't like at all.  I do prefer Connemara's version of the song. GBS's I just plain didn't like.  The Old Polina was cool, but I've heard John White and Fergus O'Byrne do their versions, and again I prefer those.  Cod Liver Oil was not bad, but again I prefer older versions, and a fairly recent version by Fine Crowd was quite good.  As for Harbour LeCou, always a good song, but Chris Andrews did a version 2-3 years ago on his solo album which I think is stellar.  The few newer tunes I hadn't heard were decent, like River Driver.

As for Come and I will Sing You, again, a well known tune here and I have one other version from 8-9 years ago by Billy Diamond.

So... I guess that, for me anyway, the album didn't show me a lot new, and what I did know I likedothyer versions of, so the album doesn't get much play. But hey, it introduced some NFLD tunes to you guys who were unfamiliar with them.  I hope GBS's trad output in the future digs a bit deeper tho in their research. :)

Hi Futon,  H&E did prompt me to investigate further into NFLD songs, especially Ryan's Fancy. :)

I think I'm the only person on this board who doesn't like River Driver. It just doesn't do anything for me, I think it got boring after a while. The same thing happened for me with General Taylor, I loved it the first 500 times I played it but now I skip over it everytime.

You haven't lived until you've heard a 3&1/2 year old sitting in the back seat of the car, screeching "I'll get drunk whenever I'm ready..."

Depends on the point of view. If you are an adult, it does nothing. If you are the child of the 46 year old, I imagine it's embarrassing beyond reason.

    Hi Helen,

hehe, well you taught me something ! ... so we can edit our own subject lines eh ? interesting stuff to know ! I had NO clue we could do that.  I have mis-typed a few subject lines before and just thought.. Oh well there there forever in the history books haha.  Well thanks for the explanation !

As for the CD, I can't wait.  It will make a nice addition to our collections. Yes  By the way, I'm really sad you are not psychic, 'cause our Lotto Super 7 is up to 10 million for this Friday, and I thought you'd have the numbers for me haha.

    Helenwheels:

lol, Frosty! If I were THAT psychic, I would be playing the lottery too! .....  I wish!

And I belive that besides not weilding any psychic powers, I wasn't weilding by moderator powers either.  Anyone who starts a thread can go back and edit the title of their OWN thread.  So, I figured that in order to put the name out there, I'd do just that.  I've been waiting to find out the details on this new CD for nearly a year!  I am just thrilled that we finally have some concrete info - a name a release date - woo hoo! Big Smile

Now all i want to know is when is the PRE-SALE and what else will be on it!!!???!!
