Just posted on the Carepages. I thought it wasn't going to be good and I was right. I don't know how Kate and Brian can hold it together. Vic and I were teary just reading it this morning. Keep the beads clacking, please. Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know about my surgery today. Unfortunately, things did not go very well. Without going into too much detail, it pretty much went opposite of what was planned for me. Instead of being all closed up and ready to take the next step, my omphalocele is all pretty much back out; only this time without its membrane. Something happened during my surgery that basically caused everything to jump back out of my belly. There were several serious complications and I lost a lot of blood. As of right now my liver is still bleeding (very slowly now) and my kidneys aren't really working the way the doctors would like. I am currently in critical condition and I think I might be that way for a little while. I don't want you to be sad for me. Please just keep praying; especially for my liver and kidneys. I am stable now and most of my levels look pretty good so far. Although this could change rather quickly, everyone seems pleased with my progress at this point. I know I have asked you to pray for me before. However, I need all of you now more than ever. Also, please don't forget to pray for my doctors; especially Dr. Flake. I am really going to need them to come through for me the next few days. Thanks as always. Love, Liam "The rose is fairest when 't is budding new, and hope is brightest when it dawns from fears" W.S.

The best photo up there is KAte and Liam. Kate is reading Goodnight Moon to him as he looks up at her. OMG! The harness thing is holding his organs up so they don't press in on his body. If you want to keep track of his progress- here's the link to his page at CHildren's Hospital of Philadelphia http://www.carepages.com/ServeCarePage?cpn=theLiamPatrickPage&uniq=603021&extrefid=tlcupdate If that doesn't work for you, go to www.carepages.com and sign up. His page is theliampatrickpage Makes you count your blessings, I tell ya! Anne

Bomb Mom: Praying for angels to watch over Liam and his family, and for the Holy Spirit to guide the minds, hands, and hearts of his care-givers.
So well said Jo. I will just quote you as I say it aloud, I hope that's ok.... "Praying for angels to watch over Liam and his family, and for the Holy
Spirit to guide the minds, hands, and hearts of his care-givers"
be safe, eb

Quick update from the 17th: Hi everyone. I was just talking to my Mom and Dad and they were telling me how proud they are of me. They said that most of my levels have been pretty consistent lately and that is great news. They also told me that the doctors looked at my brain today and found no signs of trauma or damage. They will need to look at it again in two days, but they are pretty confident it did not sustain any damage during my ordeal yesterday. Daddy was talking to Dr. Flake today and he told him that he was pleased with my early progress. However, he also told him that I am far from being out of the woods. My liver is still seeping blood and my kidneys are still not producing like they should. These are two pretty serious concerns because these two issues can only really be fixed by me. The doctors can give me medicines to help, but the rest is up to me. That is why I need all of you to really continue to pray very hard for my liver to stop bleeding and for my kidneys to start functioning the way they were before yesterday. Unfortunately, I am looking at some other issues as well. However, these are the two most serious at this time. I am still in critical condition but I am making progress. Hopefully with your help, I will be able to turn this corner. Thanks so much. Love, Liam

Here's what lyndz saw on the carepage. Lyndz, isn't it the great thing, those carepages? What a great way to let everyone know without having to actually call them! I love Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, affectionately known as CHOP here. Anne Liam's post: Good morning. I just wanted to shoot out an update before Dr. Flake gets here. They are going to clean out my silo this morning. (That is the thing that is protecting my liver etc.) They are pretty confident that the bleeding has all but stopped; which is really good news. This is something they will be doing every couple of days due to the high risk of infection now that my organs aren't protected by a membrane like they were before. Also, I just wanted everyone to know that I have been peeing. It isn't quite where they want me to be just yet. However, I know with your help I can get there. Thus far, everything else has been stabilizing. They were even able to come down on my vent settings a bit last night. I know this will make my doctors very happy. Dr. Flake said considering everything that I went through the other day, they are very pleased with where I am right now. Although I am still in critical condition, I have definitely taken some steps in the right direction. Please just keep praying that I continue to do so. Talk to you soon. Love, Liam
