    Hi Everyone!
Today I had my first car-ride! There was so much to look at! I went to my pediatrician's office for the first time. I saw kids running around in their diapers! Lots of new faces to see...it wasn't too bad...I didn't like when the doctor looked in my ears, and I didn't like being put on the scale. It was different from the one I had gotten used to at CHOP. My head circumference is in the 50th percentile for 10month olds (even though I was a preemie)...is anyone surprised? Lots of brains! My height and weight are around the 5th percentile, but again, that is for a 10month old, so I'm doing pretty good. Since I'm so active, kicking/dancing on my toy, I may need an increase in calories or feed volume, but we'll see.
My top teeth are really poking through now...don't know if you can see them in my pics yet, but you will soon.
Daddy had to go back to work yesterday, so I really missed him (ya know, he does a great job taking care of me too...and no, he still hasn't shaved). But, since we had our first appointment today, he was off...he drove!
Hope all is well :) Thank you for your continued prayers.
    Love,
    Liam

    Hi Everyone,
    Happy Superbowl Sunday!
So, things have been going pretty well. I'm sleeping well at night. Friday I slept from 7:30 til 6:45am, only woke up once. Last night I slept from 8:45 til 5:15am, then fell back to sleep for an hour or so.
My two front top teeth are in! I think the ones next to them are trying to bust through too. And, guess what?? Daddy shaved!! Woohoo! (ok, that "woohoo" was from Mommy)...but I am cool with it too. Now we can see Daddy's handsome face :)
I ate sweet potatoes on Thursday and yesterday...going to eat some again today too. Maybe I'll have a lollipop today too...a treat for the Superbowl.
I've watched a couple of Baby Einstein videos...the one about sign language and one about animals...I really love tv :) Mommy and Daddy said I'm not allowed to watch too much of it though. I've been sitting in my high chair and playing with my toys on the tray...it's fun!!
I've been getting lots of mail lately...thank you :) Guess what else I got? A diploma!!! My developmental psychologist, Casey, from CHOP mailed it to me!!
I've also said DaDa a few more times...and Mommy had me laughing so hard the other day that I set off my alarms! She doesn't mind that I haven't said Mama, she said the laughing was music to her ears :)
Well, have a good day...enjoy the game and the parties :)
    Thank you for your prayers.
    Love
    Liam

    Hi Everyone,
Since it was so nice out today (ok, not really nice, but mild)...Mommy and my nurse took me outside! I first went on the back deck, then went out to the front. Aunt Mare, cousin Dante, and PopPop Rudy walked up the street to see me. It was a little overwelming to feel the breeze, and see the brightness and all the houses, and everything, but I think we might do it again tomorrow.
Sunday I took my first real bath in the kitchen sink...I wasn't crazy about it...but it was my first time in the kitchen and I was right in front of the windows so there was a lot of light coming in...that was a little much also. Too many new things at once can be a little scary. Sunday night I watched the beginning of the Superbowl...I ate some carrots as I watched.
I'm definitely teething again...the ones on top right beside my front teeth are coming in. Not fun.
Mommy said she's trying to video me when Daddy gets home from work each day, because I get so excited to see him! So, she said when she does, she'll post it to the carepage...I really do get excited to see him.
Well, have a good night...and as always, thank you for your prayers.
    Love
    Liam

    Hi Everyone,
Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Mine was nice...I had visits from all the grandparents, and Great Grandmom too. My other teeth are just about through...so hopefully I'll start to feel better for a little while before the next ones pop up.
    I now weigh 18lbs 10oz and I'm 27in long!
I've been tasting applesauce the past few days...I think that's my favorite so far.
I took a bath in my new FisherPrice tub...and I really liked it! I just had to find one that I fit in. I've always loved the spongebaths, so it was just a matter of finding the right tub for me.
I'm saying "Dada" all the time now...and Mommy's teaching me animal sounds. I like the pig, cow and dog sounds the best. Sometimes I really try to say "woof" (at least that's what mommy thinks). And I'm almost waving when you wave to me ( I like to wave at myself when I have a toy in my hand).
Have a good week, thank you for your prayers :)
    Love,
    Liam

    Re: Prayers for Liam

    February 16, 2008 at 10:16 AM EST
    Good Morning!
So, this past week, Mommy and Daddy have been trying to transition me to my portable vent. I have my first appointments at CHOP on Monday (11:30 urology, 12:30 pulmonary), so I'll need to be on the portable vent for several hours. Well, Monday and Tuesday I flipped when they put me on...so they changed my humidivent (this is the piece that gives the air I breathe humidity since I can't bring the humidifier). I was using ones the equipment company gave us, and I hated them. So, we had some extras from the hospital, and I lasted 20-30 minutes with them before freaking out. So, between Mommy, Daddy, our pulmonary team, our nurses and our respiratory therapists...we are trying to troubleshoot. We are trying a different setting on the portable vent today to see if that helps...if not, we will not be visiting CHOP on Monday. The pulmonary team said "not to lose sleep over this"...we'll get it figured out, and we'll just reschedule the appointment for when I'm ready. I'll keep you updated!
I've been doing great besides that! My teeth up top are in! I now have 4 on top and 2 on bottom...I think more on bottom are trying to come in now. I now weigh 18lbs 14oz.
I've been laughing alot, and I just started jumping in my new Jumparoo (thanks to the Nace's)!! I've attached a video of both :)
Enjoy your weekend...please pray that we get this portable vent thing figured out! Thank you!
    Love,
    Liam

    Re: Prayers for Liam

    Hi Everyone,
So, I made it to my visit...I didn't think we were going because yesterday I was on the portable vent for an hour and 45min, but had some secretions issues, which got me pretty worked up. I didn't go to my first appointment with urology but Dr Panitch said he'd like to see me, and since I was able to go almost 2 hours on the vent they said to come in and they'd hook me up to the heater/humdifier when I got there.
Well, I was really worked up going from the house to the car...Mommy had me bundled and I was hot! Plus the sun was shining in my eyes, and I didn't know where we were going!! Once they settled me, we started driving and I liked looking out the windows.
I did not like the first part of my visit either...they tried to take my blood pressure, which I have NEVER liked...so I cried. Then they put me on the length board, and stretched me out to get my length, and I cried harder. Then they undressed me to get my weight(19lbs), and I cried.
Then they brought me into a little room and it was sort of crowded, and I cried. Then I eventually fell asleep. When I woke, Dr Panitch was listening to me, so I cried, then he checked my ears, mouth and nose, and yep, you guessed it...I cried. But then, he tweaked my settings, gave me a little more support since I am so active, with all the bouncing, jumping and kicking. And I relaxed. I even smiled a few times.
We went to visit my friends in the NICU...apparently it was a crazy day in there!! But I was able to see some of my friends, and I was happy to see them...even though I may not have showed it. I was pretty wiped out by then. Mommy and Daddy said it was a pretty neat feeling to be the ones that the staff came out to see. They had seen many former patients come back to visit when I was in the NICU, so it was really great to finally be on the visiting side.
Don't be upset about my vent settings going up...ideally we went them to go down eventually but our short term goal is for me to grow and develop, and if it means going up on some things, then that's ok.
Anyhow, Dr Panitch said that I "look great!" He was very pleased with me...happy with my growth, and happy with me. He even discontinued 2 of my meds! I don't need the diuril (a diuretic) anymore, and because I don't need that, I also don't need the potassium chloride :)
So, thank you for the prayers, in helping me to get back for my appointment :)
    Love
    Liam
