Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

    Candace, I think it's both.

Bonnie, I chuckled when I read your last post, because when I was reading Columbine's last post, I was thinking "She forgot the most important one!"  That is, in full,

    FCYMCUETYP Jester

Which means F*** Columbine, You Crack Me Up Every Time You Post!  Sometimes abbreviated to FCYCMU!

While you are at it Bonnie if u cld maB put sumthin in about posting in english cause it drives me when ne 1 posts in chat spk.  THX!

I think the chat speak (lyk omb) is irritating beyond words. Perhaps we should stick that under the category of Net-iquette.

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

I detest netspeak or even 733t-speak!  Damn it, I went to school and know darn well that those English classes sunk in, so I'm going to use those skills that I learned.  I can assure you that I'm going to mention that Wink

With the fact that we sometimes have non-native-English speakers on the board I strongly feel that NOT using correct English puts people at a disadvantage.  I've actually banned netspeak on boards that I've attempted to run in the past.  You use it repeatedly, your arse gets banninated....lol

    CandaceO:
I am rather fond of the fact that this topic has its very own theme song, thanks for the add on Columbine! We're either a very creative lot, or we all need lives.

Oh on a day in April month, we started with a ditty

about creating F A Que's,, we thought we were quite witty....

we scoured long forgotten posts to gather information

so people could find answers to……

    those  frequently asked questions!

    Here's to F A Que's aren't they really handy!

They answer this, they answer that

at the click of your mouse dandy

    Here's to F A Que's  don’t you really know

they send you to  the answers true…. where dead horses cannot go!

    **************

Sorry...I couldn't resist...though my filking skills are quite hampered, as I usually compose them in the wonderful altered state of inebriation.... Beer

I would vote that the FAQ be placed in the Welcome section as a topic right under the House Rules topic so it's nice and visible.

Okay, come on now. How can I NOT applaud that effort? Well done!

I think we may be the only thread with our own parody/theme song. Go us!

Well done! Tis quite the catchy tune!

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

I wish there was more I could do for this topic besides creating a silly little parody, but unfortunately, I'm about as tech-savvy as a caveman. But Bon, if you need help with something, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to try my best.

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

It's not the tech-savvy I require...all I really need help with is gathering the information :)  I can take care of the rest, I'm a geek that way...lol

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

I guess, along with no chatspeak, we could mention NO YELLING IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!, no scalping (reselling tickets ABOVE face value), no cursing, and please keep innuendo elegant enough to go over the heads of most 14-year-olds.  And please be tolerant of people's spelling and grammar errors instead of correcting them or making fun of them (unless you're me Devil).

    Col,

I so totally think I love you following that no yelling in caps suggestion. My other pet peeve is people who ask a question and end the sentence with an exclamation point...basic grammar here folks, if it's a question, it gets a question mark. Drives me mental.

I just did that in a post.  Because, I don't really expect an answer.

No worries Honey, that remark was not directed at you. It was a general statement. Didn't mean to offend anyone with it.

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

    Ooh, ooh, ooh, I know!

    Q:  Is there a discussion about X?

A:  To find out, go to the Search box at the top of the page, type your topic in the box, and if there's a pull-down menu, select Entire Site from the pull-down menu, then click Search.

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

Wow... apparantly there IS a, FAQ page...

If you click on any of the little images (page, thumbtack, etc next to a thread in a forum it opens in a new window.

Or alternately, it is HERE.   It seems to be a generic one for this type of board ( I didn't read it all... just perused it), but it's a good starting place!

Re: We need a FAQ on the board...

I got your PM Smile  Thank you!

Yep, that's a fairly generic FAQ so I figured that I'd delve into the scary world of fandom ecentricities and come up with something to try to explain away such things as what we call ourselves, etc.  I figure it will help newbies understand some of the weird things that are refered to on the board...lol
