My favorite is Blue Moon, but I've heard American beer can't even compare to beers in other countries.  I need to travel more, then maybe my opinion will change. Beer

I had a really fantastic grapefruit beer when I was in Germany recently.  I don't remember the name of it.

    "Schoefferhoffer Grapefruit" maybe?

TeaResa, you don’t need to travel overseas, you just need to travel around to your local microbrewery for a high quality, tasty beer.

People traditionally have said American beers don’t match with those in other countries because the big brewers make only light American lagers, made with corn & rice, not malt (it’s cheaper). I won’t go into the whole history here, but it has a lot to do with the ability to drink a couple quick pints & go back to work in a semi-sober condition. The big beer brewers adjusted accordingly, brewing the flavor right out of their beers, & maximizing their profits. Thankfully, over the last few decades, microbrewers have flourished from the East to West Coast & brought flavor back to the American beer landscape.

I used to think I hated beer because it had no flavor.  Now, thanks to my initiation at the High Street Brewery in Eugene, OR, many, many years ago, I now know what real beer is.  Consequently, I am a proud home-brewer & have been judging at the Michigan State Fair Homebrew Competition for the last couple years. Trust me, American beers can now, finally, hold their own & far surpass any beer abroad. Amen! Smile

Could well be.  It was new last summer from what I understand.

Whatever somebody just bottled!  Seriously, Bostonians love to brew beer.  A bunch of my friends make tasty beers as a part of their summer routine.  One guy who's a biologist brewed some with genetically tweaked yeast just for the beer of it, and it tasted fine.

I'm an ale person more then a beer person, I love most micro brews. I love Traditional Ale, but will take a Hobgoblin any time, and then right after I'll drink a Guinness. A Black n Tan? Any Honey or pale ales would be my pick.

My tastes vary with my mood.  It depends on location, menu, company, etc.  I'm a big fan of Mill Street Organic and love that I'm buying (drinking) local.

I just returned from Ireland where I rediscoverd Smithwicks.  I'm going to see U2 this week and am sure will be meeting up with a friend at a pub prior to the show and can already taste a nice Smithwicks there :)

I like Smithwicks and Harp, especially with fish and chips.

My younger brother likes Corona, especially the slightly smaller bottles, although he will also drink Rickard's, Coors and Canadian.

We also like Rickards red and white, and Leffe Blonde, a Belgian beer.  Neither of us is crazy about Stella.  I also recently discovered Nickel Brook Green Apple beer, a very refreshing light tasting beer with a hint of green apple flavour - almost tasted like a mixture of beer and cider.  It is brewed locally in Burlington.

I have had Hobgoblin - it is a little dark for my taste.  We recently tasted Spitfire and liked it.

I've fallen in love with Fish Brewing Co. local to Olympia WA. They have a Wild Salmon Pale Ale that is so amazing I go and have a pint about twice a week. All of their beers are organic too!  I also love Hoegarden and Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde. I guess I'm a light beer kinda girl.

    Peace Love and GBS,

    Loula
