    Re: What's your favourite beer?

My favorite style of beer is definitely stout.  It's just so big, roasty, and delicious.  Especially Avery's Out of Bounds Stout, Dogfish Head's Chicory, and Guinness Extra Stout.  Guinness Draught is by far my favorite beer.  It's not the best I've ever had, but I love it.

Summer's a bit too heavy for stouts, though.  About this time I reach for a German Hefeweizen, Alt, or one of Avery's other beers like Karma (a light Belgian golden), Ellie's (brown), or 14'er (ESB).

My wife really liked the Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale we got in Acadia last year.  I thought the Bar Harbor regular ale was very smooth and tasty.

I live for the beerfest (www.gcbf.com) we have every September (anyone who loves beer should make the treck over to Vancouver Island for this). Each year, I cross my fingers that my favourite brewers will be there, and rarely do the disappoint.

My favourites are the Granville Island Brewing (www.gib.ca) Robson Street Hefeweizen, both the Wraspberry Ale and Velvet Fog from Wild Rose Brewery, and last, but not least, the Draught Dodger and the Blue Buck (formerly Blue Truck) from Phillips Brewing Company.

I'm also a sucker for Sleeman's Silver Creek lager. However, as much as I love beer, you are more likely to find me with a pint of Strongbow on a hot summer day  Smile

I haven't posted here because I'm not really a beer drinker, but I've discovered one I really like and have got a couple of people hooked on. It's called Hobgoblin.

My brothers and I recently went to the new Pub that opened in Pembroke, FL. They have an impressive beer menu, so we decided to try a lot of new ones. My one brother fell in love with Hobgoblin. It was his favorite of the night. I need to see where they sell it in the States.

Not really much of a beer drinker myself, but I like Sam's Summer Ale and the cranberry lambic they make at christmas. Have you tried the Flying Goose pub in New London?  They make their own beer there too, and awesome bourbon tips

Cheryl and I love Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale. It's not available in the U.S., so every trip up to Canada(which is fairly frequent)includes me bringing a case back home.

    Re: What's your favourite beer?

I am also not a beer drinker but I'd like to find something tasty.  I thought I could get some advice here.  I lived in England for a short time and discovered I don't dislike beer, just lager.  I liked Caffery's there but here it tastes like tin. Any suggestions?   I feel so unCanadian, though being from Niagara, wine isn't an inappropriate choice.

Good call ! It's my favourite too, unless I can find a pub that serves Boréal Dorée. Ever tried it ?

    Re: What's your favourite beer?

Lately, I’ve been enjoying Bell’s Two-Hearted IPA & their Hopslam IPA.  New Holland Brewing Company’s Lucid kolcsh-style lager is a wonderful summer lawn-mower beer – tasty, but not too heavy in the alcohol dept.

I think my all-time favorite is a stout Bell’s had on tap last year: one part of their Double Cream Stout & one part of their Expedition Stout mixed & aged in a bourbon barrel.  It was heaven in a glass. angel I come close to reproducing it by mixing 5 oz of the Double Cream Stout & 5 oz of the Expedition Stout in a glass with a half teaspoon of Maker’s Mark bourbon.  Let it warm to about 54 degrees, & it recalls a tastier time. Smile

I'm a fan of the Church-Key Brewing Company in Campbellford, Ontario. Locally to Toronto I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mill Street's Balzac's Coffee Porter.
