That's cool, Tina, 'cause I am no longer getting any responses in the General Chat forum...
It's obvious that I'm going to need to do some research before I begin writing, though the first thing I need to figure out is when to set the story - MasterVolo said that Bob's song is probably set in the early 20th century due to the velocity at which the ship was traveling when it hit the shore. I want to set it back as far as I can to preserve as much mystique as possible, though it has to be sometime after ships moved from wind-power to engine-power... I think the best starting point (I was toying with the idea of writing it as a series of journal entries from the POV of a specific crewman) will come into focus after I get this little kink worked out.
Maybe?
