This is my favorite picture of all of the foliage shots that I took this past weekend while out on the East coast.  It's difficult to tell what parts are real and which are reflections.

Yeah,,there's about a 1/2 km. of trees directly behind my house that break out onto a gravel road and the ocean is on the other side.  Here's another one I took today.

    Re: Photography

Awsome This one is of the skittle houses on one of the older streets of St. John's, I loved the black and white version soo much.
This one took me half an hour to get, I kept on missing the waves.
This one was taken at Rocky Harbour as the tide was coming in, it is one of my favourites.

The pics of Signal Hill are great. makes me homesick for my future hometown. All the pictures are great.

    Re: Photography

Here are a couple from our first weeks in NS.  This first one will be enlarged and tampered with to look like a painting, and presented to the grandparents for Christmas.  (the rest appear in the "Good Luck Sharn" thread)  This is Martinique beach, a 5 minute drive from our new house.  I love the way the water looks almost black and white, juxtaposed with the bright colours the kids are wearing, (colours which are complimentary, a happy accident) and the sheer joy that is evident in their expressions and body language.

This one is my favourite arty farty one-This would be the gift to grandparents pic if only both kids were in it.  I still may make a small print of it for them.  This is in Peggy's Cove.

    Re: Photography

can someone tell me how to post pictures? because I tried and it didn't work.

if not, I'm slowly working on putting lots of pictures and stuff up on a website I'm making. it is www2.bc.edu/~goek. currently very basic and under construction, but there are pictures. if you look at it let me know what you think.

     thanks!

Re: How to Post a Photo

    Sara -

For the sake of expediency, I'm going to answer your question assuming that you don't know anything about the process, so please don't think that I think you're a doofus; it's just easier to give you the all the info so you don't miss any info you need.... and if you did all this and it just didn't work, well, I guess you should ask Helen for help?

Here's what I know about posting pictures here.  Whatever photo you want to post needs to already be up on the web somewhere, and therefore have a URL.  This site won't let you load files directly to it; what it does is take the URL for your photo, grab it "on the fly" and stick it into your post for the viewer to see.  The code in the GBS site "calls" your URL everytime the post is displayed.

So, when you want to post an image, you need to first get the URL for your photo.  To do that, you can go to the webpage it lives on and right-click on the photo.  A menu will pop up.  You select the "Properties" menu item at the very bottom of the menu, and it will open the properties info for the photo.  In the middle of the properties box you'll see the URL for the photo listed.  Highlight it and copy it.  Then go to the GBS post in which you want to embed your photo.  Click on the icon that looks like a green tree.  A box will pop up that asks you for the URL of the image.  Paste it in there, and you should be good to go!

    Hope this helps -

    Nancy

p.s.  Sharn - love the shot of the kids at the beach.  You really caught the emotions in that!  Darcarin, love the flower photos!  Sunlight through flower petals is one of my favorite things to look at.  Very.....warm.
