Alan's latest From The Road talks about their Chicago show and his hat shopping adventures.

"...It was cold in Chicago yesterday.  I needed a hat..."

I would have loved to witness that story!

I'm still dying with laughter at this story!  Angel The image of Alan replying in the thickest accent possible to the manager while casually explaining he's playing up the street is too hilarious!

Now that is a great way to start a Monday morning... nothing like a funny from the road to ease into the work week.

May I suggest an FBI hat for some more fun while touring the states?

    Note to self...

Next time Great Big Sea comes to town buy some kind of piece of clothing that says security on it, hang around doors, tour buses or maybe open windows looking like you are supposed to be there.  Could also work with beer delivery uniform!

I'm reminded on a thread about what we could do if we pulled the bus over... seems like a security or police hat might work ok to help that plan.

    Note to self...

Wear new security hat to churches that double as concert venues and approach strangers who bolt in during services.  I love the fact that they think of this (and Ames) as neat and interesting not small town hick that they are too good for!  600,000 eyes holy moly a lot of people go to church in Ames!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

I love these "From The Road" writings.  So Alan talks about debuting a song called "Straight To Hell" and then in his next entry he stumbles mistakenly into a Church service.  This is where one might say that God has a sense of humour.  Stick out tongue

    Excellent writing.

Does God have a sense of humour?  One word--Platypus.  'nuff said.

Oh my gosh! This is what is so enearing about Alan. I love not only the WAY he tells his stories, but I also love the KIND of things he chooses to tell.

He got himself into some interesting, tricky situations there in Ames, and carried them off beautifully.

.....or at least they way he tells it.....
