OK, I'm just throwing it this out there!  As of October 1, I volunteer to be the Official Guide and Time Killer of all OKPeeps who are on a layover in Halifax airport.  PM me with your itinerary, and I'll meet you at the airport, guide you to the Tim's, and sit there having a cuppa jo with you 'till you have to board your connecting flight.  My fee will be a large, one cream, two sugars.

Sharn, I'm DEFINATELY planning a visit out east for this summer... Unless of course GBS has a concert date in London the same week. I've wanted to go to PEI since I first read Anne of Green Gables, the Bay of Fundy since I heard about it in grade 8, and Newfoundland I've wanted to visit since I met my aunt, a few years or so before she married my uncle, and that was when I was 8.  I think I'll fly this time though, the commuter trains are too bumpy.

ahh, I was a few weeks too early for your servicesSmile  That was one crowded airport first thing in the morning -- most of the people on our flight had to be pulled out of line to make the flight.  Halifax was beautiful

Janet,  THe Bay of Fundy is  Gorgeous....I love swimming in it!  One of my favourite places in the world is a tiny town called Margarettesville. I would heartily reccommend that you go to Annapolis Royal and see the fort and go on the candlelight graveyard tour.

Oh Oh yipee! Bounce Candlight graveyard tour!  And we'll be there right around Hallowe'en!  How cool is THAT!  Geez, I'm starting to love NS, and I haven't even been there yet.  Dave's Mom and Dad showed me their pics from their vacation in NS this summer.  Their pics of Peggy's Cove made me get all misty and choked up.  How weird is that?  So so so so so beautiful.

We're waiting for you. And, as the only OKPer who has been in your new house, I say: WELCOME HOME! You guys will have a great time tooling around the province on weekends (it's small compared to ON) and discovering its secrets. You are just minutes from some gorgeous coastline.

THe one I went on was given by a wonderful man Named Alan Melansen who was of Acadian descent.  His knowledge of that Culture is amazing, I would have loved to pick his brain for the entire evening.  His wife gives daytime tours of the town. :)

Definately NOT something I could do. I imagine it's beautiful, but a graveyard in the day is just asking for panic attack. Graveyard at night, with shadows from the candles?  Probably I'd be catatonic.

Overall, I prefer the train to the plane. Ferry wasn't too bad, but I was used to the swaying of the train. I'll have to ask my mom how the train trip is East of Toronto, as she just visited my brother in Gagetown, NB.

Brand-spanking new From The Road!  YAY!

In his most recent journal entry, Alan writes:

"...Mom on the Road! Yes, I picked up Mom at four am and we made our way to St. John’s Airport."

    Enjoy!

Woo hoo, I was one of those enthusiastic singers last night in Albany -- always cool to hear they appreciated our enthusiasm. We all clapped and cheered when Alan introduced his Mom and aunt
-- how cool is it that she was so excited for the whole experience!!

Just read Alan's new FTR - awwww, road trippin' with Mom!  How sweet!  There's something so loveable about guys who are good to their Moms!  I bet she's so proud of him, too!
