Hahaha! I dunno. It sounds like we need a word from the man himself to clear this up. So Christina...in Germany, how cheap is the wine? :D

Tina, Angel ... Well - since Germany is a real beer brewing country (currently we have 1274 breweries that produce over 5000 different sorts), beer is probably the cheapest drink you can get in most of the places ... but good news for the wine lovers (like I am myself): as well easily affordable!

Feel invited for a local research ... beermug

    Cheers ... Christina

It's great to hear from Alan again.

I checked the Oysterband tour schedule and all Canadian dates are West of Quebec, so if you're in Ontario, Manitoba (Winnipeg only), Alberta, or BC, they're headed your way.

I wonder which single will be released first...

Totally looking forward to the summer dates. Hope one of them is nearby. :)

Oysterband is great... we have a couple of their CD's... Good to know they are coming to Edmonton... Billy Bragg is awesome to (my kids even love em!!!)... I just got a CD of his for my hubby for Chirstmas..... and well the Pogues... well we have EVERY CD of theirs... they are the hubby's fave along with Dropkick Murphys... I am beginning to think that  Alan, Bob and I have the very same CD collection... lol...

Looking forward to those summer dates too... and that new CD... I wonder if my hubby would like a copy for Father's Day... lol... to make me happy of course!!! =)

Agree on the CD Collection, Lisa!

I've been listening to the Oysterband many years before I ever heard about GBS, and saw them on stage a couple of times. And for everybody here on the board who does not now them, I can definately support Alan's recommendation: check'm out and go to the show if you get a chance!

    Cheers ... Christina

I've been meaning to check out the Oysterband.  Does anyone have any song recommendations/CD recommendations?  I might check out a couple of songs on iTunes before purchasing an album.

Hi gbsgirl ... a good one to start is "Granite Years" which is a best of 1986-1997, it's a double CD with lots of great tracks. Three of my favourite songs are "By Northern Light", "20th of April" and "Love Vigilantes".

Check it out ... and enjoy ... Christina

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

Thanks, Lisa, for your assent ... :-) ... this album gives a fairly good overview about the past I think. But the two latest albums "Here I stand" and "Meet you there" are both great as well, aren't they? Do you have a very favourite one?

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

I have not "really" listened to those albums... I need to find them out here... maybe I should order online for them... that seems easier.. lol... I've just listened to what I can find online... but really interested in Meet you there... that is the newest right?... =)

I always thought the Oysterband was Canadian till I actually started looking for their CD's here... lol.. I don't know why I thought that... I just did... lol.. duh!!! =)

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

Hi Lisa ... I just looked it up and found lots of stuff on amazon and on iTunes as well ... so if you're still interested, you shouldn't have a problem to get all the CDs you like.

I ordered "Meet You There" just recently - it came out last year I think - and I really like it a lot.

In general it will always be a pleasure for me to help, in case you want something that's only available in Europe ... just let me know!

    Take care ... Christina

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

Thanks, Christina and Lisa!  I tried a few tracks from iTunes -- By Northern Light, Love Vigilantes, After Rain, This Town.  The Oysterband is great!  I love Love Vigilantes and This Town (not sure I've figured out what all the lyrics to This Town mean yet, but great song!  I love the fiddle part).  I think I'm going to drop by Borders and order the Granite Years this week.  Thanks for the recommendations!

    Re: Alan's From The Road!

Chalk it up to another successful recommendation from the GBS fandom . . . Oysterband rocks.

GBSGirl and any others . . . if you don't mind just getting the MP3s (as opposed to discs), you can download whole albums on AmazonMP3. Pretty inexpensive, too. That's what I've been doing all day instead of working - downloading and listening :)
