Today was a wonderful day. All of my friends were complaining that it was too cold, but I loved it! Walking back from campus was great. The trees are  starting to look fantastic.Smiles How's fall coming along for everyone else?

    Re: The George Street Café

Fall is going great, although schoolwork is starting to pile up, I have a class trip this weekend, and I started work on Friday.

I LOVE my job however. I work at the campus childcare center with 3-5 yr olds. Today one of the kids I work with was crying for no apparent reason. I tried to cheer her up and as that didn't work so well, I started singing Ordinary Day to her, and by the second chorus she was smiling and ready to play! It was amazing.

AND... I changed my first diaper today! I only gagged a few times too.  I feel so proud of myself!

Later, after spending sometime talking to friends about what we all will do when we graduate, which left me feeling rather depressed, I went into my room to grab my computer Let It Go came on and I stopped and listened to it and it and it was just what I need to hear to make me sigh and smile. Smile

This has been a good day thanks to GBS! Alan was right "all other bands suck"!

    Peace, Love, and GBS,

    Loula

    Re: The George Street Café

    This thread's all about tangents!!

Fall's in full swing here. Thanksgiving, wine festival and craft shows (the outdoor ones) are done. Leaves have had their first raking, trees are looking good still but fading.  Kids have jumped into the piles at the end of the slide.  I'm about to go into mid-term mode so I'll either fade out for a couple of weeks or be here more as an avoidance tactic.  I love teaching writing and I like teaching grammar but I hate the load of marking that comes with it!

A round of apple cider (hard, soft, hot, cold,- as you wish) and Cheers to all!

Mmmmm Cider! I had a mug of hot spiced cider today after a cold, wind-blown walk back from campus. I sat looking out my tenth floor window (right next to the heater Smile) at the lake and the trees changing colors.  Hooray for cider!

vv Hey Ruth-a double yeah for cider and changing leaves!!Especially the leaves I love them when they are a multitude of colors, one fading into the other. Here the craft shows are still on,but the wine and apple butter festivals are over. Fall is mostly about football at the University-we tailgate with hot soups, dips, and toddys and then bundle up to sit through the games and cheer the team on!! In the mornings the warm days and cool nights make FOG-a real pain on the way to work in the mornings. Did anyone catch the meteor shower?-I got up early to watch it,but cloud cover made me miss it.

Now, anyone want to hypothesize why my son would move into the neighborhood in which I teach?  IT'S THE HOOD FER PETE'S SAKE! One of my lovely behaviorally challenged students lives a block away from him. Hmmmmmm. I could use Nick as a Hitman?

That's the Post Meridian Radio Players - they're going to be reenacting the War of the Worlds broadcast live, in period costume, with foley artists doing all the sound effects, "cigarette girls" selling old-time candy, and peripheral characters interacting with the audience.  Tom Champion is that guy's real name, and he's the voice of all the city robo-calls to move your car for snow plowing or expect rusty water from flushing the hydrants.

Maybe you can send him for graham crackers. Stick out tongue

That totally makes sense.  I'm surprised they found some unpaved dirt to grow stuff in, though, and could dig it without calling in the bomb squad to relocate the weapons stash.

    Re: The George Street Café

Ah the first warm fuzzy stages of a new relationship.  I love listening to stories of them.  Kinda like I love looking at newborn babies.  They're so precious and fragile, and having survived my own until I've reached a certain level of permanance and maturity, I don't want to do it again, but I love watching someone else experience it and remembering all the loveliness.

    Enjoy Loula!

Thanks so much Carol! Considering that we've been seeing each other since mid August, I think everything's going perfectly. It's all so incredible, its great to know that there are men in the world who aren't assholes. (I doubted this after my last BF used me for more than $2000) I hope it all goes well. (it helps that he thinks my GBS obsession is adorable!)

    Here's to love! Beer
