Re: The George Street Café
Delaney:Okay. This is nice. Defending myself here now. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, because you don't know me, but I'm not an air head. I never said you were , and I do think you are an inteligent girl but you just proved my point. You will be confrontational when you need to be you just have to choose the time. Of course I'm not going to be submissive and just let things happen. Of course I'm going to say "Not in my car" or "Not with me". And I have said those things. Several times. What I want to avoid is walking up to the friend I've had for more of my life than I can remember and saying "Listen. We're not going to Dane Cook because your lifestyle scares me." I'll try to avoid the subject and not offend anyone. If push comes to shove, we'll have it out, but not before that. But just maybe she needs to hear it to be able to get her life back on track. It's not up to me to judge how others live their lives. It's only up to me to be defensive and not let stupid things happen while I'm there. Believe me, I don't. I ended a relationship because of stupid, childish behavior. I didn't say I was judging you. People Judge it's part of life, not fair but reality. What freaks me out is being in a large city with her and her obnoxious ways. And it should, that's a scary situation. I've settled that I'm just not putting myself in that position. That was my original question. It's been answered.Great! As for being judged by the company I keep: tough. I'll take it. If you judge me because I have stayed friends with someone like that after the mistakes she's made, you're not the kind of person I want in my life. I am not in your life we live miles apart the chances of meeting are slim. I am not judging you I am relaying information that may or may not be useful use it as you choose but don't take offense. If someone judges me based on a friend that I see once a week for a coffee, they don't know me and they don't matter to me. Anyone who does know me knows how I behave, and that sometimes things go beyone one's control. It happens to everyone. And I deal. As we all deal when we have to. I was mistaken in the fact that you solicited information on an open forum that you didn't really want. I apologise, my bad, won't happen again.
Kudos girl you have what it takes to get through life, you were scaring me with your passivitee! I am irritating I know that, but I do it to inspire thought. Gotcha! Wouldn't it be great if no one ever got offended, wouldn't it be great to say what's really on your mind!

Well hallelujah and thank God for that! But I would say that to anyone. If someone walked up to me on the street and judged my by my friends, I would tell them what I told you.
And the fact that you told me, two or three times "You are judged by the company you keep" tells me you DID judge me. And probably still are.
Yes, I asked a question here. I've been here six years and I've made friends here. I trust people here for some friendly advice. What I got was told how to live by someone who's judgemental, bossy and opinionated.
Sorry to ruin the lovely upbeat cafe everyone.

Re: The George Street Café
**smiles awkwardly and sets down a loaf of pumpkin bread** So the weather here is gorgeous right now; sunny with just a hint of autumn chill. I was going to take the kids to the Grape and Wine parade, but they wanted a home day. I guess we all need some down time sometimes! So I'm catching up on laundry and other chores while stopping for cuddle breaks. How's your day?

Whole weekend was great, thanks.
Went to a Fibre Fest and made a jumprope for Anne's Class, went to my best friend's for dinner and had a ball watching "Dukes of Hazzard" DVDs - Today I made Chili for dinners/ Lunches, grocery shopped and practiced violin. What did you do ?

Doing Lesson Plans - the principal is using my plans as a suggested format for plans. Kinda cool! They aren't perfect but easy to understand and had most of what she was looking for. It's a beautiful sunny day as I sit and type and watch birds out the kitchen windows. Anne

Re: The George Street Café
*sidles over awkwardly* Hi! Do you mind if I join you? Sorry I didn't bring anything to share. Dorm room kitchens are terrible. Too many people, not enough room. Today was a great autumn day and the tree outside my building door is just starting to turn a beautiful orange. I can't wait until all the leaves change. Fall's my favorite time of year. What about you guys?

Just starting, but it's supposed to be a real doozy of a year for colors! And for all the tomatoes and grapes had such a bad year, the apples did incredibly well. I'm guessing it's a good pumpkin year, as they were all over the place more than a week ago. Love, Columbine

Re: The George Street Café
Bought leeks and potatoes at the market and made a big pot o soup myself. I am also a big fan of soup, mostly in the fall and winter. My favourite meal is a bowl of great soup, some hearty bread, a few fancy cheeses and some fresh veggies. It's been called a ploughman's lunch and has a few other names. All my favourite restaurants have some version of it. My favourite place to have it though is in the TV room, sitting on the floor with the family and watching a good movie. Fall is my favourite time of year too. I took my little ones for a hike after visiting the pumpkin farm. Technically, the weather was cloudy and cool and drizzly, but when I met up with another grown-up on the trail and he said it was nice weather for a walk, I had to agree. The sun's out today. I may take another walk today. I love working right on the Escarpment!!

Re: The George Street Café
Fall is my favourite season too, and it seems to really be here. That chill that sets in and stays tells me that summer has definitely left! I'm not packing away the summer clothes just yet though...no sooner will I do that then we'll get a really warm day! Just like when I pack the winter clothes away because it's been so warm and then it snows!
