Yesterday I had this gorgeous drive along the Niagara Escarpment. There were still some leaves on the trees and I had the sunroof open... yes it is mid-November in southern Ontario yet I could have the roof open without the heater on. Gotta love that!

I love where I live. Sure it's not in the mountains or by the ocean, but with one of the Great Lakes and the Escarpment around me, it is a beautiful place.

Ugh, nothing beautiful this weekend. Hopefully, something will happen today.

Went to visit my Pop in the nursing home; he's had MS for the last 15+ years, and he looked awful. We watched the Giants game which was nice, since we both love them, but he looked dreadful and was so out of it. Plus it's the 4th trip I've made up to CT in the last 6 weeks; just getting quite worn out from it.

Grrrr....and missed out on the NYC show pre-sale. Will try and hook up to computer for the 19th sale.

But something beautiful will happen today, I'm convinced.

Don't give up Teej. I know something good is going to come your way. Even the tiniest thing can make your day. Smile

My dearheart is just so wonderful. Last night, he "locked" me up in his room while he prepared a surprise for me. When I went downstairs, he had dinner all ready. Made by himself. No less. He'd also bought a bottle of my favorite wine. I thought it was just going to be a normal dinner but then he came back with a cake and some presents. (My "official" birthday dinner is tonight with my family.) He wanted to give me something extra special. And he did. The presents are really nice. (Stuff from my fave store, Lush) But the thought of him going through all that trouble to plan the whole thing was just the best. heart And believe me, for him to keep the secret all this time was a challenge! Well, I did something beautiful for myself over the weekend. I had been dating a guy for over a year and had grown my hair long because he asked me to. Well we split a little while ago so on Saturday passed I cut all my hair off and now I feel so free!!! This my friends is closure. Smile

K, first Sandy, I do sooooooooooooo want to know about the purple streaks, yes please.
And Irish? You GO girl!! Burns my butt when I hear about women changing themselves for some guy. The right one will love you no matter what-mine tells me I'm hot-I'm 39, had two c-sections, got about 25 lbs "extra" and ain't no "HOT" not no way not no how-but HE thinks so-and would think so if I shaved my head. (which I have considered, some days) So my something beautiful today is YOU, Irish girl, cause you are celebrating who you are and THAT is a truly beautiful thing.

Sharn - thanks for the words of wisdom.
Geesh, the things we do in the name of love! Sometimes we try to be something we are not just to appease our guys. I hate to say it but there are times that it is such a relief if it ends cause then you get to be "real".

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?

    My Something Beautiful for today:

It was a typical Monday at work...the phones were busier than a Walmart/Zellers on Welfare Wednesday, and I was going frigging mental trying to help out the regular line and still manage my regular work load. And I was grouchier than Oscar....I had a sick kid at home (he collapsed yesterday during marching band practice, complaining that he could hardly breathe), I couldn't afford a day off work so I could adequately care for him, and I hadn't had time for my morning coffee....

Anyhow, I was approached by one of our newer agents...she had a Tim Horton's coffee in one hand and a piece of paper in the other. She handed both of them to me with a smile and quickly walked away. I was stunned...she had gone out and bought me an extra-large mocha on her lunch break...and also typed up a thank you letter and had a bunch of people sign it!

The letter said: "Thank you for being such a great Mentor. No matter what kind of day you are having or how busy you are you always stop to lend a helping hand and give a kind word to all of us. If it weren't for you and your kindness most of us wouldn't still be working here. We thought that we'd write you this letter in appreciation of everything you've done to make our lives easier."

And it was signed by at least half the contract. I was in tears by the time I had finished reading. Here I was, having a crappy day, and being given this letter. Wow, what a nice feeling to know that I'm appreciated like that. I spent the rest of my work day on quite a high note!

Hey Bon, you got Zellers way out in the 'wack? I had no idea! Thought that was just an Ontario thing.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?

Yep, Zellers is everywhere, Sharn! I prefer Zellers over Walmart too....but sometimes the prices are just cheaper over at Walmart. I sometimes have to shop where things are cheapest, especially for my son's clothes - he's growing like a bad weed!

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?

Zellers is definitely everywhere - except in my neighbourhood. They were at my local mini-mall until a few months ago. I now find myself really missing having it within walking distance. It's being replaced with a not-yet-open Home Hardware, which is kind of silly because there is a Canadian Tire right next door.

As for Something Beautiful, well, I just got off the phone with my Mom and she and my Dad are coming for a visit on Wednesday.
