Generally. Smile And we won't. Razz Apparently, Joanne was very right for him Smile

    Re: King Alan

I like Sean's voice better than Alan's. It can sound so ummm beautiful? (can that describe a man's voice?) for harmonies and ballad style songs, but can also sound like the saltiest sailor for other songs, like the Mermaid.

    Alan's voice is distinctive.

(I hope I got the descriptions out so that others can understand them.)

    Re: King Alan

I think I like Alan's voice better, especially on the last couple albums before THTE because of Séan's propensity for upper-range wailing. That just set my teeth on edge.

Yeah, I like Séan's voice. It's very versatile for different styles and such. Smile

My dad, who's a music critic extraordinaire adores Alan's voice. My mum, who's a Shantyfan, prefers Alan's voice.

But let's face it; They all sing beautifully.

As a singer, one thing I can say -- Bob's posture is fantastic. He also has a louder voice than both Alan and Séan. If I had been his music teacher, I'd have been proud of him! Smile

Quite distinctive and quite lovely. Sean's is quite nice, too. And, yes, they all sing beautifully. laugh But Alan's is...well, it's Alan's.

ANd, no, we don't hold it against him that it took him a while to find Joanne. They look quite nice together and he shines brighter than ever, I think. If she weren't right for him, I'm sure the light might have dimmed somewhat. Glad he took the time he needed and found her.

    Re: King Alan

But you know who looks most content these days? Séan. He seems so much more relaxed -- it's nice to see. Smile

Maybe she just never said "YES" until last year. I imagine Alan would be quite the handful, one would have to think long and hard before agreeing to marry The Doyle, or anyone else for that matter.

Yeah, same here. Smile I'd be proud of all of them for different reasons. Smile
Bob for his flat-out vocal power and amazing range, Séan for his range and versatility, and Alan for the tone, power and emotion of his voice.

    Well said, well said.

And it would take a while to be sure you were with the right one. Looking at lyrics such as Fast As I Can, I can see it being a well-thought out decision on both parts, which it should be.
