As the other post from the expat in Phoenix, my family and I are expats living in the south of Louisiana.  There is a lot of culture in the south and it would be a shame if we could not share ours with them. A majority of people from Louisiana can trace their families to the maritimes and the time of the expulsion of the Acadians 400 years ago.  So if you look closely there is a lot of connection between the maritimes and Louisiana, you should take advantage of it.  We have been here a few years and the number of Canadians living here is a lot more then you would think.  To top it all off on your time off there is so much to do from touring the bayous to visiting New Orleans.  So PLEASE come down and enjoy the warmth and passion of the south, it would not be hard to fill the House of Blues in New Orleans and it would not be our first time to see you in a House of Blues venue.

Welcome CanjunCanuck - I am fascinated with how music, language and culture have spread, merged and diverged across the planet.  I just discovered this connection a few years back, and I think it is something that average Americans just has no concept of!  I think I read somewhere that "cajun" is a derrivative of accadian.  You can hear it in the music too.
