my school is part of a laptop project, and they're promoting 'digital citizenship' and all the whatnots, so in order to use the song "heart of stone" in my presentation (character analysis on hagar shipley from the book stone angel) i'd have to have permission to use it, and it dont matter if i bought the cd :(

so im confused on how i'd go about getting permission to use the song :S its rather silly, and its only going to be shown to my class, but its due right away and i've already set all the timing of the presentation to 'heart of stone' >.<

Not 100% sure, but I'm sure you can use it. Anne uses GBS songs in her class all the time. I think if you were making financial gain there might be a problem, but it's just a project for your class, so I don't think you're breaking any rules. It's like playing GBS at a party. I'd say contact Nicopop to be sure.

To get "Official Permission" it needs to come from either the GBS gents themselves or their management. 

They use Sonic Entertainment  Group as their management. Go to their site, lookup GBS and see if you can find contact info there.  If you do - ask the manager. He's been known to adress fan inquiries about copyright ( which is what this is dealing with) before.
