Welcome to the OKP, ecomuggle! Interesting name. You'll have to tell us about it. I have listened to Consequence Free and Sea of No Cares way too many times this past week to keep me on an even keel. Ordinary Day wasn't working! And for some reason, The Old Polina has become a comfort song. Go fig. Anne
And when the winds of change begin to blow, I'll whisper, "You're my lighthouse" in case you didn't know. Sons of Maxwell visit my website!: Anne's Philly Phan Site at http://www.gbsfanatic.com

Plus, it's just a fun song - I find myself throwing in cheerleading lines in between lines... "...the terror of the sea..." Yeah, RIGHT."...came plunging through the stream..." You Go!"...tried to beat the bloody lot..." Nice try."...and to our wives so fair..." Oh, them? Love, Columbine

i think a shorter list would be which songs of theirs i don't like.
But "Sally Ann", believe it or not, is a special little song.
My Mum has Alzheimer's Disease- she's in a nursing home now, but she wasn't when i first got "Something Beautiful*". Whenever i had it in the CD player and she was in the car with me, Mum would smile and laugh when "Sally Ann" came on.
One of her cats was named Saliann- hence the connection she made- but it was nice to see her reacting to something that way. She heard it so often that she even started singing along to it quietly (you had to be really listening to hear her).
5 years ago, hearing my Mum sing along to a song wouldn't have been at all surprising, but she rarely ever does it now, so it was pretty ... significant.
The fact that the song is about Alan's young niece only adds to the experience for me.
"Take my heart, take my hand, oh Sally Ann, Life can be just what you make it!"
Your witty slogan here.

I try to listen to "Let It Go" on a regular basis--really listen, not just background music. I'm a bit of a control freak/chronic worrier, and I need that reminder about three times a day, minimum!
"Fisherman's Lament" and "Graceful and Charming" both make me cry every time I hear them, although for different reasons. Funny how a song like "Fisherman's Lament" can mean so much to a landlocked farm girl, but the circumstances of government/corporate interests overtaking the livelihoods of individuals are so similar to what I see happening where I grew up. There's a whole rant there, but not for here! "Graceful and Charming" just makes me cry 'cause I'm a hopeless romantic.
On a more upbeat note, "Yarmouth Town", "Concerning Charlie Horse", and "Jolly Butcher" make me giggle uncontrollably, while "Feel It Turn", "Wave Over Wave" and "When I'm Up" just make me HAPPY!
