Your almost-three-year-old requests to hear "Donkey Riding".  Repeatedly.  Over an hour's car ride.  And he'll settle for an occasional "Excursion Around the Bay" in between.Angel

Ah, yes, that IS part of the tune of "Whisky, You're the Devil" in "Jakey's Gin," isn't it?

Looking at this thread, though, I think I could healthily (is that a word?) ramp up my fandom at least another notch or two - I don't have a GBS ringtone, and nor do I even have a poster of the guys on my wall! The latter I can certainly remedy.  :-D

Yes it is good to see there are those far more afflicted. I have no ringtones as I have nothing to ring and I don't have posters up, but I think at my age and stage that might be odd.  I did, however, get and frame the vinyl release of Fortune's Favour! ( I happen to like the artwork, thank you! :) )

And yes, I got an ipod so keeping up with the requests from the backseat didn't mean shuffling GBS CDs on the road!

You mean they actually play GBS on Sirius? I was starting to wonder. Yes, I spend most of my time tuned into the Big 80s, but SIRIUSly, play some GBS once in a while and I'd change the channel to them. uh

ETA: I'll play. You know you're a GBS fan when you visit your grandparents and the first thing Pop asks is "So? How's Bob? Where's he playing tonight? When are the boys coming to Winnipeg again? How's the Harbourfest thing going?" Lol!

    That's cute!

You know you're a GBS fan when you start brainwashing your kids early. The 1st one only started at 3 & 1/2, the second one is only 6 months old, has already been to 3 concerts, and had the nickname of "Headphone Baby" bestowed upon him by Alan from the stage.

Your three year old girl, with all the righteous indignation of a three-year-old girl, still requests her favourite "old brown's daughter" but makes it very clear, several time a day, that she likes Alan but does not like the beard.

Singing [<:o)] Re: You Know your a Great Big Sea Fan WHEN......

.......Your 3 and a half year old no longer lets you sing along to your GBS dics in your SUV, because only "she" is allowed to sing along with "Her Boys".

And she informs you that some day she will be standing between "Her" Alan and Bob singing on stage.

    Gadda love the kids!

Re: You Know your a Great Big Sea Fan WHEN......

...Within five minutes of meeting you people are aware that you're obsessed with GBS (it always comes up some how, lol).  Within the first 45, you're offering to teach them a song or two (or at least lend them an album).

...You find ways of incorporating GBS into your school projects.  By the end of your highschool career you have had an entire drama class singing (yelling?) along to Rant & Roar on a Great Big Sea CD, while your teacher sat in the corner and wondered how in the heck you managed to pull this off (and writes as much on your assignment sheet).  :D  And your art teacher now knows "The Mermaid Song" because you blared it every day at lunch, sung it for him on more than one occasion, and did several prints based on it (to which one of your classmates responded, "Oh- she's got lovely legs and... fish?").

     Good times, good times.  :D

    Cheers!
