I just saw on ticketmaster that the show starts at 5:00!  Is that for real?  It seems klnd of early for a Friday night ourdoor show
My ticket says Doors at 5pm: the show may be an early one but it won't be starting at 5.  And there is an opening act.

This is a special show - more than likely the opening act will be starting in at or very, very near a 5pm. This is part of the Thursday in Square shows ( yes, I know it's Friday, but trust me it's part of the same series)  and they are designed to keep workers downtown after work. There for the 5pm start time on all series Shows.

If you want to be up front and center count on getting there early to mid afternoon...and you'll likely be met by some folks! *G*

And folks, this is an outdoor show - it's at the Erie Canal Harbor - not far from the old Aud and the Naval Park, in a Fenced off field. No doors. At least from all the info we can find.

Re: GBS concert in Buffalo, NY

We will most definitely be there early but once in is there any chance of being able to sit around in front of the stage between performances or will we be standing all evening?

Where exactly is the venue? I tried Mapquest and got nowhere with either Buffalo Place or Erie Canal Harbour.

Try Buffalo Naval Park or Memorial Auditorium. It seems to be a lot that is Bounded on two sides by 7th Ave and quite near the end of the Subway tracks. Not hard to get to but a pain to find online. This "place" is used like twice a year for these shows. You should be able to sit on the ground between shows just fine.

I was just reading word for word from my ticket and the words "Doors 5PM" are indeed printed on the ticketSmile.  That would be quite funny to actually see doors...sort of Blazing Saddles-esque!

yeah, I think that's a ticket master thing. Instead of start times they say doors. Sigh

Re: GBS concert in Buffalo, NY

what do you want? with in a very short distance there are several sit down places, an Irtish type pub,  a Sushi Place, and several hotels with bars. A little farther out is Allentown that is a local hangout, several bars, a restaurant or two, and it's great for people watching. Chippewa Street has more Bars, and a Star bucks, and more Bars and some....the thing about Buffalo tho is that it's a very drivable city and with in 20 -30 minutes you can get just about anywhere you want to go.

I liked Darcy McGee's a while back, nice folks and decent food. They had GBS  play there awhile back...might be a good thing to send them some business.

For Sushi _ I can highly recommend Sea Bar II - My brother owns it and chefs there.

You won't be far from Pearl Street Grill which enjoys a good reputation or if you want wings, go to Anchor Bar on Main street. Any cabbie in the city will know where it is. It's the place where wings were invented.

Any of these places have an outdoor patio that allows children at night?

I went to Pearl Street Grill Thursday night before the Spirit of the West show. Their wings were excellent and they brew their own beer. Plus I was told they just added Alexander Keih's on tap.

    Fran,

I think Pearl Street Grill allows kids anytime - I''ve emailed them to check. If not there are chain places downtown, like Ruby Tuesdays and the hotels have restaurants too. :)

Any time Nova. If you're going to be in town either the day before, early the day of or the day after the show, let me know what you're interested in and I can tell you what to do and where to find  it. I love helping folks discover my city.
