SHIPS AND DIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a great great cruise and for sure the trip of a lifetime!!!. My girlfriend and I had the best time and we got to hang out with all our OKPers from Kim, Nova, Chiracusa, Tina, (and Adam), Sara, Brenda, Frosty and the rest, it was a blast. GBS played 1st on Monday night in the main theater and of course a great show. It was pretty much what the last tour was, Donkey Riding and most of the songs from the last tour. After the show, Alan hung out with Nova, Brenda, and Chiracusa and they gave him some ideas on the set list for the Tuesday sail away show, and what a show it was!!!!. Without a doubt from anyone who was there, one of the best show they had ever done. It was Tuesday afternoon "Sail Away" show from the Lido deck, a beautiful afternoon. The boys came out in white bathrobes and shades. The opened with "Captain Kidd" and they soon took off the robes and were in board shorts and t-shirts. They truly had a ball that show. Ed from BNL joined them onstage in nothing but a speedo and helped out in the 80s melody. Sean sung a "Split Ends" song I think as well as Men at Works "Down Under" which was done so well, I think they might keep doing it. We also got "The Mermaid","Walk on the Moon" "Something Beautiful" and "Sea of No Cares" in the original "faster" version. I might be forgetting something, so I am sure other OKPers can fill in the blanks. Encore was "Straight to Hell' and "Old Black Rum" Alan did the song writers panel, where each member took turns playing and he and did a great clear acoustic "Straight to Hell" as well as a song he said he never did live called "Not for the Money" which was about his childhood working with Cod fishermen in Petty Harbor. He did another new song and then played "Boston and St Johns" (there's a story here, but I will let others tell it!!!!). Their last show was Thursday night on the Lido Deck where we got "Process Man" among others , Carbon Leaf joined them on stage for "General Taylor" and the encores where "Excursion Aroung the Bay" Forture Set" and "Rant and Roar" Their set was from 9:30 to 11 and Alan told everyone to go with them down a number of decks to the Adriatic Lounge to crash the last 1/2 hour of the Gaelic Storm set, with Alan and Sean in the lead, we all raced down across the ship to the Gaelic Storm show, where at the end, GBS, Carbon Leaf and GS did a wild version of "Tell Me Ma", Sean's second verse was out of hand and the boys all had a great time. There was many chances to meet the guys and chat and they were always cool, always willing to take a pic or two. Thanks guys. I would love to do it again. John

Re: SHIPS AND DIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How great a time that must have been! Thanks for the updates for us hangashores. Not For the Money Alone is on the last Irish Descendants album - the one Alan produced. You can hear his voice clearly singing backup vocals. The Irish Descendants also did a rockin' version of Jim Fidler's Downtown Girl with the GBS b'ys joining in. I twice heard GBS do Tell Me Ma - once at the Painted Bride in Philly and once at the Scottish Irish Festival in King of Prussia. Great fun!

I heard it second hand and it had to do with someone requesting Alan to play Boston and St. John's (?) and he said he wouldn't play it unless the fella would sleep sleep with him later... did I get that right guys? I wasn't a winner of the songpanel, but I did get to sneak in for the last four songs (BNL, Sarah Harmer, Boothby Graffoe) including the accoustic of Boston and St. John's... but he told the guy it didn't mean he was off the hook as they were "still gonna do it later"

Thanks for the review, John. I'm using your quotes to save some typing... Here's some more pics. Click pic for slides.

We had a great time. I truely believe that Alan had the best time of all. He was the Energizer Bunny all week socializing with everyone everyday. He kept thanking everyone and was very chatty during the songwriters panel. Talking to him Tuesday morning, I asked him how much fun he was having. He said, "It's great, I wish we could play more and with with other musicians." Well, I guess he followed through with that in the songwriters panel and the final night. Thanks for a great time b'ys!!!

Well, I admit it, it was me that was the "leather lungs" that requested "Boston and St Johns" and was teased about it from my OKP buds the rest of the cruise.(How was your hot date?? ect ect) When I saw Alan the last night I told him I was the guy and he said he was sorry and we had a good laugh about it
