    Summer Snowflake Exchange

This will be a summer version of the exchange around the winter holidays. Same idea...you will be matched with a person to send to and a person to recieve from, they will not be the same person.
This is open to all board participants OVER the age of 17 ( this is for legal reasons). We don't care if you're mad at one of us or if you are new or old....we just want folks to have some fun with it.

We do however have a few rules,
    1) sign-ups will be through the official SSE email address ONLY. No exceptions. We've had a few folks try to sign up though alternate emails or PMs over the past few exchanges and this is just too "iffy" for you and for us, so we are limiting it to just the email address set up for this exchange.

    2) sign-ups will be held until May 20th, 11:59 pm EST.

    3) There will be NO sign ups take after May 20th. For the past few exhanges we've had folks try to sign up well after the posted date. And we've run into problems with trying to accommodate them, so no sign-ups after May 20th, and yes, that is written in stone. Partners will be emailed to you by May 31.

4)Packages should be mailed no later than June 28th so that the person can recieve it by July 25th.

5)Please include your full address and boardname (and info on which board)when signing up and use a return address when mailing.

    6) Price range is about $10 of local currency.
Please remember that exhange rates are involved and that not everyone is in the same financial situation as you.
    7) While we can not accept requests as to whom you send to, we will honour requests that your info not be given to someone...if you don't want someone to have your info feel free to tell us.

8)Please do not feel that living outside of North America means you can't participate. We'd love to have you join us from Australia, France, England, Germany or whereever. Come have some fun and get to know your fellow OKPers!

    9) This is by "popular demand". In the past we have had folks who signed up for the exchanges and then not sent anything..in some cases it been the same person in three consecutive exchanges, some have disappeared altogether, some have disappeared and then come back months later with no explinations. After much thought and debate we are saying "enough" and if you have signed up in the past an not sent *AND* not contacted us before hand then you're not eligagble for any further exchanges. In the past Anne and I have taken turns with making sure that folks get something - in one exchange we had 5 people not send and not respond to repeated attempts at contacting them. We simply can nto afford to send out $70 worth of gifts between us ( our two people + 5 "extras") So at the suggestion of several on these boards we have decided that if you have not sent and not contacted us about the circumstances ***BEFORE*** the deadlines for sending you are hence forth ineligable.

Yes - we do mean you must contact us BEFORE the deadline...contacting us and telling us after your giftee should reasonably have expected to receive, OR making me chase you down for explinations and ETA's does not cut it.

I am sorry that we have to do this but it's unfair for all of us involved for people to continue to be signed up and not send. ***THIS IS absolutely NOT directed at the one person who contacted us for the winterangels exchange of '06*** She is more than welcome to join again. Family emergencies we fully understand, having been through our share of them ourselves.
****Several folks are banned because of conduct in the past. Since it is your own behaviour that has brought this on yourself, there will be no appeals process and no amount of whining in public forums or badgering mommy can change it.****

     All of that said:

The email for sign ups is summersnowflake.exchange@gmail.com

What we need to get this rolling, so when you email us to sign up, send us the following:
    Your board name
    Your Real Name
    Your mailing addy
a few interests to make it easier for your gifter to purchase that perfect gift. ( trust me this helps immensely) And if you DON"T want some one to have your info tell us.
The most important thing in this is to have Fun

    Re: Summer Snowflake Exchange

Yes, it is time  for this already....We have some folks signed up. :D  We start it this early so that we can give you time to decide and still fix it so we don't have to do the "work" of pairing on a holiday week end- Any later and we'd be sending them out Memorial Day or later.

Hope to see more of you sign up. :D

    Re: Summer Snowflake Exchange

Thanks Andi: I really do appreciate all your hard work on this, it is so awesome that you would take it on again and again!

Now the fun starts; the anticipation of who you get to chose a gift for first, then the anticipation of who will send you a gift, and finally the wonderful gift to open.

    Re: Summer Snowflake Exchange

Update: We have about a dozen folks participating, which will make for quite a nice exchange ~ and to quote a wise mane "there's always room for more."  So far we have folks from both the US and Canada participating and we welcome folks from Europe and OZ - I am not sure if we even have posters anymore from Asia ( and we've never had any from SA or Africa) but if you wish to join, you're not excluded by distance. :)

Sign ups end on Tuesday and 11:59pm and we are going to try our darndest to get your partners out before the holiday weekend. Thanks all!

    Re: Summer Snowflake Exchange

I'm so disappointed that I can't participate this year. What with my mom's wedding at the end of June and the concert in July, I just can't squeeze one more thing into my meager budget.Sad But I hope all the participants have a great time doing this...I always do! And I look forward to the winter exchange!

    One more thing.

We have folks from across the "pond" joining us from Germany and England _ Making it a truly international exchange.

Also Several folks have indicated that they like handmade stuff.... I gotta say, I love that!

I have sent out the first half of the partners. I'll get the rest of them out either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how music lessons go. :P
