Friday was indeed a spectacular and beautiful day. AM rush hour all across Toronto with no major traffic delays! Time spent with friends, visit with family, friends looking out for me and making sure that I have a good time. I am blessed.

I only have to get through another 5 days at work and then my maternity leave starts! Can't wait for a chance to just chill out a bit and finally get everything ready for the summer.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Rainbow yesterday! And today a big enough order to ensure that I'll make rent, despite having made a huge miscalculation (taking the IRS at its word, TWICE IN A ROW. One of these days I'll learn!)
And my cat's furry little face is once again furry, with whiskers on both sides, and no uncomfortable itching bothering him. And someone has volunteered to take the big bag of goodies-he-can't-have-any-more to the Animal Rescue League. And I'm going to Vermont in 5 days!
And you know what else? I have a great place to live, plenty of good food to eat, all the shoes & clothes I can possibly wear (more, really) in any weather I'm likely to encounter, no war going on nearby, so much clean drinkable water that I can even bathe in it any time I want, and a steady job. That's all stuff to be happy about, and I am!
Love, Columbine (P.S. It's also a gorgeous day!)
P.S. Anybody else unable to put line breaks? Looks like font size & color, smileys, etc. are gone too... Oh, OK, I can put linebreaks (pointybracket p pointybracket) so long as I remember to type them in HTML.

Col, I know you enjoy your time in VT. Have fun! And go to your profile and reset the Content Editor to TinyMCEWrapper. That will do it. FOr some reason every once in a while, the site rests it for you and you have to set it back. *shrugs* My beautiful thing is THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION!!!!!!!!! I go to a birthday bash at Heather & Mike's, pick up my granddaughter from the airport, celebrate HER birthday tomorrow, and go to see GBS in TO on Tuesday. Can't ask for a better start to vacation. Woohoo! Anne

Ah but INDEED "Something Beautiful" happened today; I'm re-reading the e-mail from GBS saying they have a tour date for Charlotte!! You can't wipe that smile off my face. October 26th can't get here soon enough for me. Poor husband.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
I have something VERY beautiful...my father in law, whom I love dearly, has been battling prostate cancer for the last year, going thru chemo and hormone injections...he had a cat scan yesterday, and it seems he is now free of cancer! I am so happy. This man has gone thru all of this with courage and humour, which is a tough thing to do and this outcome is what we all hoped for!

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
My house is wonderfully quiet this morning . I'm sure it won't last long. My Something beautiful is from yesterday. I spent the day watching half the city graduate from Highschool. in amongst those Grads were My 2 children and most of thier friends. It was awesome to see them in cap and gown walking onto those stages all nervous and excited at the same time, to hear their cheers at the end of the ceremonies, and to see others that struggled as hard or harder to make it to that time and place as well. It was just like watching thier... walk on the mooooon! One proud Mama!

I learned how to play England on guitar. It doesn't get much more beautiful than that. Now if only I could sing it better. A little work and it should be passable.
But I know I'm going to do it again! Oh Yeah! Robbie

My beautiful thing is from Monday: a great day of fishing and sun and catching twice as many fish as the guy who invited me to go. The lake was beautiful, the fish were jumping into our boat and the company was great.

Signed the papers on a construction loan this morning and (literally) within minutes the excavator was starting on the hole in the ground. The builder assures us that we'll be into the log cabin before Thanksgiving (U.S.). The prospect is both exciting and daunting at the same time. As the song by the late, great band from Cincinnati, The Bears, goes: "Fear is never boring."
