How am I the first to notice?

Hmmm. The ‘sad one’. I rather like it. Indeed - I shall grow a drooping moustache, and wear even more black. Instead of trying to think of witty remarks for podcasts, I shall keep a self-indulgent journal full of my musings on diverse and dull topics, and I will paint grayish water-colours of cliffs and dead caplin and abandoned gill nets. I shall write lengthy poems. And drink unpleasant cheap cognacs. I will submit hectoring editorials blaming Canada for all Newfoundland’s problems. The key of ‘Dm’ shall be my default setting.

I am sure it will make for a refreshing change.

I feel less guilty now for the Blink 182 songs on my computer jukebox.  And I agree that Shannon Hoon was a talented man who died in a completely pointless way.

He is so witty!  What a lot of fun to read.

Don't listen to him.  His "The Sad One" persona is pure defense against the waves of estrogen wafting Rockward.  He's just trying to attract fans who are even shyer than he is!

What a great Soundtrack!    I love his sarcastic sense of humour.  Downright bitter and full of contempt.  And yet still absolutely entertaining.  Kind of like what he's desribing about the music in this journal...

No Rain is a favorite song of mine and my husband's.  And Blind Melons kick a$$!  Their guitar player is fantastic and the singer is powerful and soulful (or as Bob put it "had greatness in him").  Another tortured poet soul...

For years fans have accused me of being ‘the quiet one’, because I rarely say anything onstage."..... "I am also known as the ‘smart one’, mainly because I have an unhealthy ability to recall trivia of little use to anyone, and I rarely watch TV." .... . "It does not take much, sometimes."

Or maybe he's the smart one because he has a vocabulary that blows most of us, even those with good vocabularies, right out of the water.  And anyone who can master so many instruments just has to be gifted.  And if you can sit back and blithely say "it doesn't ake much sometimes" because it is all THAT easy, then by golly, you're smart!

I began to wonder if we Fans didn't somehow suggest that he is "the sad one" too...you know...after a show, comments like: "Wow Bob was actually smiling a lot tonight" ...as if it wasn't entirely natural to him.  I dunno, just a thought. 

I really enjoyed this soundtrack more than many of the previous ones.   The tone was great.  The back-to-basics ramble was fun.  And he talked about a song a really like.  Nicely done!

OK, so the music recommendations, as always were good, but - good Lord, that man is FUNNY! The last paragraph alone had me in stitches.

Couldn't agree more. 

DesertGal, if you happen by, HST refers to "Harmonized Sales Tax."  Where by the gov't doesn't even try anymore to disguise the fact that they are giving it to you up the backside by splitting the taxes by which they are taxing the crap out of us into two seperate taxes.  So the PROVINCIAL sales tax and the FEDERAL sales tax are "harmonized" in to one, big, powerful, up the bum sales tax, which they call "harmonized" so we'll feel all tranquil about it.  Or not.  Dunno about NL, but in NS the HST amounts to 14%

Yep, $1.40 for every $10 we spend.  No romance when they give it to us up the backside, 'cause there's 14% sales tax on flowers, wine, chocolates, dinner and a movie. They could at LEAST give us a kiss, near as I can figure, they haven't figured out how to tax a kiss yet.  Give 'em time, they will.

Anyhoo... new soundtrack up!  This one discussing recording "then" and "now".

We have learned the hard way that endless tinkering does not makes for more interesting records. In a digital age, it is the spaces between the notes, the burst of energy, the sudden moment of passion that can make all the difference.

He does so well conveying so much with so few words.

One of the many reasons I love our Bob.  Not to get too fangirly here, but I love the way he expresses himself and his opinions.  Easy enough for us lay-people to understand, without sacrificing intelligence and/or actual information. 

I am here to prevent Kes from having another Twlight Zone experience...
