I thought someone here might like to know about this media mention of the band. I am subscribed to the "Dogma Free America" Podcast available on iTunes, or at http://www.dogmafreeamerica.com/ and I was surprised to hear in response to my email to the show, which aired on May, 3/08 Episode 52 that the host of the Show, Rich Orman knows how to pronounce Newfoundland because his Favorite Band is Great Big Sea. He says he has gone to multiple GBS concerts where the band pronounced it in the way he said it on air. The cohost of podshow suggested that the endorsement of GBS by the host would likely drive increased iTunes downloads of GBS songs.

 Anyway, the Newfoundland angle all started with references in Episode 51, which prompted me to write in to the show, only to find out in Episode 52 when the host read my email, that the Host of the show thinks GBS is the greatest.....who knew!  It really is a small world after all, ........or perhaps it is better to say it's a big band after all. A Great Big Band....as big as the Great Big Sea.

So I am wondering if any of the band members actually read this section if they might consider sending the guy some Band Related Swag. It was an unsolicited positive mention of the Band on a popular podcast which could potentially drive a new fanbase, and it came completely out of left field so I think if the band could see their way clear to make some kind of contact with him....a signed T-Shirt, leave a voicemail message for him or something it would be a nice surprise for the guy who is apparently a big fan.
