With a new album coming out, it's time to start the 'personal interpretaion' of songs again! (Which the by's say is the only way you'll get song books, so it's up to us). I had a lot of fun helping with The Hard and The Easy, and hope the new one will be just as fun. Does anyone have anything for Walk On the Moon yet?? So far, I think an accustic version can be done with capo 2, around C, F, G chords in various progressions. It really changes up throughout, and there's probably some other/alternate chords can that can be thrown in. So, I offer up the challenge to all amature guitarists to come up with something playable in an accustic set up for this song. Have fun!! Neil

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Ok, so here is my initial guess for first verse and chorus. Fell free to make comments. I know some of the placements aren't exact. Walk on the Moon Capo 2 (C)Is it just [F]me, Or a mess(G)age from above? (C)Bells are [F]ringin', Push has (G)finally come to shove. (C)The door [F]before me now Has (G)opened just enough. [F]I'm sick and tired of (C)waiting [F]For dreams that never (G)come, [F]And games I never (C)played in, But still [F]wish that I had (G)won.
Now, (C)I'm [F]alive, I've got (G)one shot and I'm [F]takin' it to you. (C) I'm [F]alive, Oh, I (G)realised not a [F]moment too (C)soon. [F]That this is my one small (C)step, This is my (G)walk on the moon. Neil

Walk on the Moon Em/C/D Is it just me, or a message from above? Bells are ringing, push has finally come to shove The door before me has opened just enough... C/G C/D And I'm sick and tired of waiting for dreams that never come and games I never played in but still wish that I had won...
(chorus) G/D/C/C/D I'm alive, I've got one shot and I'm taking it to you I'm alive and I realise not a moment too soon C/C/D This is my one small step, this is my walk on the moon Em/C/D Don't you think their hands were shaking as that rocket ship touched down I'm sure they shvered as it finally touched the ground and that giant leap, so fragile that it hardly made a sound
C/G C/D Well, it must have been amazing what a world they got to see so I don't care, my foolish fear won't get the best of me

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Getting close! Try this. {Note that "G/B" means a G major with a B bass note (no g root note)}
Walk on the Moon G/B C D Is it just me, or a message from above? Bells are ringing, push has finally come to shove The door before me now has opened just enough... C G/B Am D
And I'm sick and tired of waiting for dreams that never come and games I never played in but still wish that I had won...
(chorus) G D G/B C I'm alive, I've got one shot and I'm taking it to you I'm alive and I realise not a moment too soon Am C D This is my one small step, this is my walk on the moon G/B C D Don't you think their hands were shaking as that rocket ship touched down I'm sure they shvered as it finally touched the ground and that giant leap, so fragile that it hardly made a sound
C G/B Am D Well, it must have been amazing what a world they got to see so I don't care, my foolish fear won't get the best of me

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
OK guys, you've got me confused. What the heck does a G/B look like? The bit about the root and bass note means nothing to me. Can you paint a picture? I can play guitar but I know nothing beyond regular chords. I know no guitar theory. Anne

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Mike doesn't win... he has the studio version chords. I play Alan's original acoustic with the nice Em in the verses. We both have it... just different versions.

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Young - I'll accept that, as I can only listen to the studio version, not having a live version to follow along with! Anne - play a regular G chord (with open D G and B strings) and then muffle (or take your finger off) the bottom G note (Fat E string, third fret).

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
he plays the g/b c d live as well, thats how i learned it in the first
place. i made it a point to study it when i saw it live for a second
and third time, in the pre chorus he uses a d7 instead of the dmaj for "dreams that never come", but i honestly like the d maj better, it just sounds nicer to me

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Thanks Johnny. I watched your YouTube vid of this soung and think it's great. Can you give a little clue as to the strum pattern? Looks almost like a hammer on and/or a pulloff or two rather than a straight full chord strum.

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Thought for sure he played Em in the first version I learned off of him. I like the tone Em gives off better, anyways... been playing it that way for over a year.

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Without me searching all over this forum, is there a youtube of GBS doing the song somewhere? I'll get those chords!

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Steph, I like your version a lot. For me it worked out fine with the
first try. I played it along with the live version recorded
on the Ships 'n' Dips (before the single was released) Mike you can find a version on YouTube - here http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=OlcRl3wNtcw After
playing it a couple of times I added a G on "you" and "moon", a Dsus4
on "soon" and a Cadd9 on "step" in the chorus. Does this make sense? Cheers ... Christina

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Yes, to the Dsus and C9, the G on you and moon are just the lead in to the next line, not extra chords. Also noted that Am is sometimes Am7 to keep the high G accent note going through the pattern.

Re: Walk on the Moon chords?
Cool Mike ... makes me kinda proud that you like my little additions
here (and of course I agree on what you wrote for the G - it's just
that I need to write that down for myself :-) ... since I only play for
a bit longer than a year, I never tried to tab anything myself. I would
probably suck completely ... I'll try the Am7! I
actually simply strumm this song - in a rythm that I think fits quite
ok. You probably play it with a more sophisticated pattern ... do you
have any recommendations that are not too hard to learn? Cheers ... Christina
