Colorado Irish Festival, Barras, Gaelic Storm and more!

The Colorado Irish Festival is sheduled for July 11, 12, and 13th.

I've know for a while that Gaelic Storm would be playing two nights at the event....

I just found out that the Barra MacNeils and the TownPants are also on the schedule!

The best part is that tix for the Friday night concerts are only $8.00 the Sat/Sun admission is a mere $10.00 and includes admission to the showss  AND  KIDS UNDER 12 ARE FREE!!!!

That means my family of 4 can go to three nights of shows with GS and the BM's for under 60 bucks for the whole deal!!!!  And, to top it off, it is our 15th anniversary that weekend!  heart

That sounds like a fun one! The Town Pants are coming to the east coast. I'm planning on seeing them in NYC with Icewagon Flu & Ceann on 7/24.

Helen, Go - and go talk to the Barras. They are wonderful folks and I know Lucy would love to hear from you about that song...I'll be Stewart would to, since he wrote it.  If you never  make me another promise, promise me that you'll talk to them. ( really, they are soooo approachable)

There's also a great Friday night special now. If you get there from 5pm - 6pm you get in for FREE!!! You don't hear that word very often.

I've been going to the Colorado Irish Festival for years now, and I never cease to have an AMAZING time.  Great music, food, beer! What else could you ask for. This event is a great way to take advantage of Denver's great summer weather.

There will be over 40 vendors, a ton of bands, and even church on Sunday to repent for what you did the past two days at the festival.

Head down Friday. Saturday, and Sunday, and bring a sober driver.

Absolutely Andi, I have every intention of doing exactly that!

And I sent a letter 2 weeks ago to all the famillies in my class, telling them what you told me after your show, and inviting them to come too, and to bring their children.  I know of one who definitely will be there, and several more who may come too.

Re: Colorado Irish Festival, Barras, Gaelic Storm and more!

My two kids and I had a blast at Gaelic Storm last night, and are headed up there in a little while again for the Barras, Town Pants, the Elders, and more GS!

The setting is beautiful - Clement Park is adjacent to Columbine High School and the stage has its back to the Mountains.  Last night there was a lovely (stiff) breeze and a gorgeous sunset behind the band.  The crowd was great - old and young alike were singing and dancing and sitting (not so much) in the grass.  Plenty of Killians and Guinness vendors, Jamison's and so forth!

Today, in addition to the stage shows, there's the Bagpipes competition and a Feis (dance competition) and all sorts of gaelic sports going on.

Gaelic Storm last night was fun!  They played a lot of the material off their new cd, What's the Rumpus?, just released this week.  We got the first ever live performance of The Night I Punched Russell Crowe, and "all the hits" - but what ever happened to Kiss Me I'm Irish?  Surely I thought they'd play that an an IRISH Festival - huh....but hey- we had fun anyway!  We had a great spot at the front left of the stage by Jessie - who told my daughter "You Rock" and that made her night!  Pat Murphy blew me a kiss - and we got our new disc signed by the band.  When chatting with Twigger I asked about SDV and he said there was a "very strong possibility" they WOULD be aboard with GBS and BNL!  That would make a slew of passengers very happy indeed!

off to shower and head up I-25 again!

Hope to see some familliar faces this afternoon!
