    Re: Photography

Certain f/x work better than others for certain subjects, most of it is "in the eye of the beholder" - some folks like certain effects, some like others!

In the 'back steps sunset" photo posted above in this thread I digitally removed a streetlight that was in the photo!

Paula, I like the last one, the "painted" effect.

This one's small (it's an avatar I had saved) - of the Toronto harbour.

The same photo in black and white

This one is an animated GIF I did from someone else's photo (with their permission)

There are some good pictures posted here. I've been doing a few since I moved and thought I'd share:

Neat lighthouse pic - the rock cliff to the left of it looks like the profile of the Old Man of the Mountain in NH that recently crumbled!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Maggie, the cutest Sheltie to ever exist! Taken quite recently.

This is from when GBS was in Ann Arbor, MI, in March 2006. I like that it's glowy.

Somewhere on the campus of Michigan State University in the late fall of 2006.

I realize that this is very out of focus because of the haze/dusk light, but I still think it's a pretty picture. It's the Mackinac Bridge, which connects Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

OH MY GOD !! That cat looks just like my puss Hobbes!! Even the tufft of white on his chest !  It's such a shock cause he died back in September at the ripe old age of 17. Beautiful! Thanks.

Lovely work, Paula! The third shot is especially impressive, and excellent depth of field on the "Holding Hands" shot. What lens are you using? (Or what camera?)

seaworthy- that's my cat Rudy, he showed up on our porch a few years ago, and now basically owns our yard. it's hard to get his photo, because he always tries to come sit by me! and, when im doing other shots, he'll come out of no where and before i can take a photo he'll rub against the lens! im sorry about your cat Hobbes.

Chiarascura- i used a nikon d40, just with the kit lens. i really want a macro, so im saving my $!

    Re: Photography

Ooh, oooh, ooh, I'm so excited!  I finally managed to get a few decent shots of our local sparrowhawk, who insists on using our back yard as a breakfast bar!   The digital ones didn't turn out too bad, and I'm hoping the few I also took on the SLR turn out as well:

     Tucking in

    breakfast

    Digesting

Shame I had to put the camera on to charge after these.  20 minutes later I looked out the window again, to see her sitting on the bird table, waiting for dessert to arrive!

These are some pictures my brother and I took while we were visiting my Nan in Spaniard's Bay (across the harbour from Bay Roberts)

That's me at Madrock, I'm facing Spaniard's Bay

My brother and a Horse, on our way back from fishing... somewhere's behind Bay Roberts

    The view, Isn't it awesome?
