I can sympathize with the "too-much-layering" argument... sometimes when you've got all that technology to work with, a musician can fuzz over the essence of a song (not that I'm suggesting that that happened here).

    Yay ProcessMan!!  100 posts!!

Disney theme is a cute idea, but am I the only one who also thought... graduation song?  You know, what with graduation season upon us and all that?

Already mentioned that.  The studio version just screams "graduation" in my little teacher brain, which is why I was a bit dissappointed with it after the first listen. (though it's growing on me the more I listen now) The live version was this beautiful ballad about taking the leap of "love" to me right up there with "Boston's & St. John's" in terms of emotional appeal...The bells and other layers of production on the studio version sort of turned it into this pop-rock version--lighter and less emotionally powerful, but more "sweeping", if that makes any sense.  Of course with the photo submissions for the video, I've changed my idea of the meaning of the song a lot and see it wasn't just that ballad I first heard (hence why it's growing on me) but more about taking chances to reach for dreams.

I do think I prefer the live version as well. The studio version has an entirely different feel to it, adn I think sometimes the music overpowers the vocals. I still really like the studio version, it just feels very different. There are a lot of GBS songs I prefer live, though because they just seem to have so much more raw emotion and power behind them. That's saying a lot, as most bands couldn't pull that off. Most of them aren't nearly as good live as their studio recordings.

When I tried to purchase it from iTunes, I got a message saying it was only available in the Canadian store and that my account wasn't valid for purchase in that store.  Will the song be available on the U.S. version of iTunes soon?

Since I haven't heard anything about my pictures I sent for the video by now can I assume they weren't chosen?

Not necessarily Joyce... don't think they've even come close to completing it yet...

Think they gave everyone the same message... (unless anyone else has heard back yet... but no one I've spoken w/ has heard anything yet.)

These things usually take quite awhile.
