Enough already, what do you think?

Re: New Single: "Walk On The Moon"

I don't really have the words to say how much I love it :)

First, SO AWESOME to hear a new GBS recording at last, and second - it's just wonderful. I've heard it live, of course, but this track's got such a rich, beautiful sound. I plan to stay near my computer for the next two hours, attached by my headphones.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

ETA: I really hope this next comment doesn't offend anyone's sensibilities, but I keep thinking, this would be an absolutely perfect main track on a Disney movie soundtrack. (This is NOT meant to trivialize the song at all; I happen to think a lot of Disney tunes are fantastic songs, regardless of "kid" context.) It's got the big, soaring sound, the optimistic message, and Alan's delivery is so intimate and sincere. Blows "Part of Your World" right outta the water ;)

I pressed play without telling anyone what I was doing. Kaesye imediately came running over. She fell in love with the song the second she heard it in Lowell last summer and has been singing the chorus ever since.

Now, to try again to convince Mix96 in Montreal that Great Big Sea has more than When I'm Up in their repertoire...

I'll admit at first I was a little scared of the introduction, and was a little anxious as to where teh song was going, but once the chorus kicked in.... just awesome... classic GBS! Can't wait for the album!!

Ok, I gotta be the fly in the ointment! I do LOVE this song since the first time I heard it and I do love the single. That being said,  I feel the live performances had much more raw emotion to it that doesn't come across on the single. It's great though and I keep singing the chorus over n over ! Can't wait to see the video! I wasn't a fan when they released all their previous cd's so this is my first time anticipating it. So psyched!

I absolutely love this song and was pumped when I saw that it was online! The arrangement is very different from other GBS songs and certainly carries it, and I think there's actually more feeling in the Walk on the Moon than in other, somewhat "over-produced" songs. I think the only thing I didn't really like about it was that the ending seemed a bit abrupt; either way, if this is a sample for the upcoming album, then June can't get here fast enough!!

I can't believe I just said the opposite! LOL! I think this version beats the live version hands down. But that's only my opinion. Others may think differently.

I am loving this song very much right now.  I am wondering if the picture that comes up when you play the song on MySpace is going to be the new album cover.  Time will tell.  Big Smile

Please put this song on Facebook.  I have two nieces who are getting married and I think this is an awesome song for a first dance.  I need to send it to them soon!

This album is going to be awesome!

I've love this song too...when I first heard it a year ago (ye gods, it's been a year?!?)  it packed a pretty powerful punch of emotion IMO...It just got stuck in my mind and played over and over.   But I have to agree.  The live performance was much more raw and passionate than the studio version...Maybe I'm biased because we're coming up to the end of the school year and everyone (students and teachers) have graduation on the brain, but listening to the studio version made me picture umpteen various graduation ceremonies it would be played at rather than the potent love ballad I felt live.

Mind you... I still like it and OMG it's such a treat Bounceto get to hear this now instead of waiting until June....just this version is going to take a bit of getting used to...maybe it's not as big of a contrast as the two versions of Sea of No Cares but that's kind of how I feel atm... right now I like both, just that both have different tones and feels to them

Agreed. The first time I heard the live version I was actually moved to tears. While the studio version is good, it doesn't have the same emotional punch for me. The production is nice and everything, but I think it's actually a testament to how great GBS actually are that the live version (IMHO) is better.
