Fran:I think it was from Deep Dark Ocean. It was about the songwriter moving from small Wales to big London. I t was heavenly.
Kati ... help ... do you have any idea which song it could have been?

Re: Oysterband and GBS in Toronto (April 13th, 2008)
Sorry I can't help. I think I was in a bit of shock on this Toronto trip. Getting to see Prairie Oyster the previous night was pretty exciting since I had become a fan of their music from having met Keith Glass on a number of occasions playing with singer Lynn Miles. Then on Sunday I got to hang out for a while with Miranda Mulholland, singer and fiddler extrordinaire, who plays with Glengarry Bhoys, Town Pants, Paperboys, Kevin Quain, Rattlesnake Choir, and the stage show, Bowfire.
Then there was Sunday night. Went to the show with one of my dear friends from college, Kathy who I had once dragged to an outdoor GBS show in Toronto in February. Anyway it was an AMAZING show, probably my favorite of the 30 shows I've been to in 2008. I had one of the Oysterband's CD so I was a bit familiar with their music. Nothing though, prepared me for the power of their live performance. One of my favorite performances that I've EVER seen. After the show I begged their lead singer John Jones to come to the U.S. I will see this band again anytime they play a show in the east- U.S. or Canada.
Oh and then there's the GBS appearance at the show. It was fun to see them relaxed as they had only a bit of "work" during the encore. I know I've said this hundreds of times, there is no other band that gives so much to its fans. They signed autograpghs, posed for pics, answered questions, and put up with other "stuff". Great too to see their manager Louis who has done an incredible job with the band. It was a magical night that I didn't want to end. I was one of the last people to leave and was a bit depressed to realize I wouldn't see them again until the Philly Folk Festival in August. Then I kept thinking that this special night was one of the reasons I'm crazy enough to drive up to Toronto "alone".
And as a postscript- I stayed another night so I could catch Miranda playing at the Dakota on Monday night.

I'm thinking it's Native Son that Alan sang to us.

We Columbine, we think alike at nearly the same time.

I thought it was in Gaelic.

Never heard of the language Cymraeg. If you search Super Furry Animals from Bob's Soundtrack, you can read the site in either Cymraeg or English.

I really think it is the Welsh word for "Welsh", as Wales is "Cymru".
