Besides looks, the Dragonfly bass is better than the firefly!!!

 So how long did it take you to get acustom to the low B on the dragonfly?  Or did you add a high C string?  Are you using the bronze accoustic strings??

 Have you/your band posted any of your music on the web?  That's awesome that you are recording....hopefully on the final mix you will be heard.

Paula, it would totally creep me out if someone came out of the womb saying "440 is an A," mostly because it's scary to think of a newborn baby talking. Heh. But I don't remember when I started automatically hearing a note in my head and knowing it was an A, and I don't remember training myself to distinguish intervals, so I'd like to think it's innate.

And also, in terms of "knowing whether a note is higher or lower than another," my mother's friend claims she can tell whether a note is higher or lower than another, and she's completely tone deaf. 

Brittany, I'm in the middle of a move so I can't think of any more intervals right now. Sorry.
 

Kyakbear - I am still a bit ne~rg about it but i have had a lot of fun trying to play songs i know an octave or two below normal, one song our band was going to record was 8th World wonder, and i was gunna play it using the b-string, but we never got around to recording it. lol, and i think it will be a while before we record any more songs our school got hit by lightning yesterday. *dances around the room shouting 'no school hurrah!hurrah!"**

As far as strings go, i broke 2 d-srtings before i figured out i was tuning it wrong  right now i have a set a of D'addario XL nickel wound strings. they are silver and they look and (in my opinion) sound better than the bronze ones did.

rustynation- its no problem. i actually found that the songs dont help at all. i just remember them as is. and i am doing quite well, we are now gunna focus on melody play-back. lol good luck with the moving!

 I was looking at the replies throughout and thought that at various times in music and in various countries/locations and A is not always 440.  I wonder if a person with perfect pitch can tell the difference between an A at 440 and an A at 438..

To all the non-viola players out there.... everyone knows that perfect pitch is actually taking a viola and throwing into a dumpster from 20 yards without hitting the sides of the dumpster....
