    Official Intro & Howdy

Hi, everyone. I’m not exactly new, but I’ve not properly introduced myself. I’m Angie, I live in the Detroit area, & I work in Downtown Detroit. I’ve been a GBS fan for about 6 years, & I’ve seen them in concert a few times. My favorite GBS-related past time, besides listening to the music, is making up new words to various GBS songs: "Awful Job" instead of "Scolding Wife" (I need another four verses, however); the Great Lakes shipping version of "Come & I Will Sing You" ( “Two of them were sold for scrap, now sailing all in blue,”) & "Bucky Riding" instead of "Donkey Riding" (about Bucky the big blue van). Hobby-wise, I am a Boatnerd (I follow shipping patterns & vessels on the Great Lakes, see www.Boatnerd.com ), a home-brewer (the latest batch is a maple porter), & I love music. I used to be a marching band percussion instructor, & I played the violin for many, many years (no longer, sadly). Cheers, everyone!

Hi Angie.  Since you're officially introducing yourself, it is my pleasure to officially welcome you!

I'm quite fond of the Detroit area as I have friends there and plan on attending a GBS show there should they hit Michigan on tour for their next CD - which of course they should!

    Welcome Aboard, Angie!

There is a wonderful children's book about the currents and shipping lanes etc of the Great Lakes.  It is fact based fiction with wonderful immagery called Paddle to the Sea.  I just love it!  You might too!  It follows a native built toy canoe from northern Ontario through the streams into the lakes and all the way out to the Grand Banks!  Wonderful piece of literature for anyone who loves Canada, shipping, water cycles, history or nature!

    Glad you've joined us!

    Cheers!

Quick Question: Although I hit the enter key to create paragraph breaks in my posts, & the previews shows the line breaks, when my post officially appears, there are no line breaks. Any idea what I can do to change this? Thanks in advance.

    Angie,

Click on your name on the upper right hand side of the screen at the top, choose "Site Options" and then set the Content and Quick Reply editors to TinyMCEWrapper. That should do it. Welcome to the OKP!
