    Atlantic City HOB Show

Wow! WHat a fun show we had last night! You could tell it was the first in a while as there were some forgotten words and hooks, etc. but what fun! The venue itself I didn't like, the company was great however. The sound system sucked but the boys played on. Sean sang "The Rocks of Merasheeen" - it's on the new album apparently and what a job he did on it. That is NOT my fave NFLD song, but it might become my favorite after hearing Sean McCann sing it! It's the kind of song that gets stuck in your head for a while after you hear it, and it's still there in my head today! LOL!

The new album has a name - it's called Fortune's Favour. Sean claimed he wanted to name it Straight to Hell, but that he was voted down by Bob. LOL!

Sean was incredibly on last evening and it made for an excellent show. Tons of banter! Mixed up setlist - lots changed around. Plus we got a band/audience singalong - Under the Boardwalk!

Howard had a moment in the sun when Sean asked him to hold up the words to The Rocks of Merasheen in case he forgot them, as this was the first time he'd sung it outside the studio. Makes me even more anxious to hear this record. Oh - release date is set for June 24th. More to come in my review.

Thanks for the review, Anne!  I was afraid EVERYBODY left AC for DC this morning.  Can't wait to read more!

    Bet -

I edited the above post with a few more details. Enjoy.

I think most people on this board were indeed going to Shamrockfest today. Many were driving straight to DC after the show. Not us - we're staying home today.

    Re: Atlantic City HOB Show

I agree that the venue wasn't the best... but the show was so much fun!

It was great to meet so many people from the OKP in person... It was like one big party!

Oh and I apologize profusely for everyone I stepped on... bumped into... and spilled my drink on.... Had a few too many birthday drinks... so I think I spent half the show hanging onto Kim just to stay on my feet (and singing VERY loudly and VERY badly in her ear - lol).  Was so much fun....

The thing that was best about the show was the size... I liked the smaller more intimate setting...

Anyways - had lots of fun... was sorry to have had to miss out on the DC part of the trip.  Next time.

And thanks for all the birthday wishes and drinks last night everyone!  (although I am paying dearly for it today ;o)

Does anyone have the setlist? Bit of a problem required that we  leave around Helmet Head. I think I want to know what we missed, even though it will just make me sadder. Loved the new songs, especially Rock of Merasheeen; always love the old ones. Under the Boardwalk  sing along was so funny for this Jersey girl. My teens had a good time, still saying positive things today. I'd do it again, but without the first aid visit.

Sounds like another great show from the boys. Looks like everyone had fun. Glad to see they did the rock version of SONC again, hope they keep it up. Have fun in DC gang.

    Re: Atlantic City HOB Show

The show was great! Especially the part where Alan was introducing When I Am King and Sean said something just as Alan was taking a drink and it almost came out his nose!! A great bid thank you to "Mutha" and his gang for their kindness and hospitality! And also to Lindz, Horatia, Charascurra, Flyergrl, Fran, and JenB for taking in this orphan. It was one of the best nights of my life- especially the aftershow party! As Alan would say "well done". P.S. I like the acoustic Sea of No Cares better. Have a great time in DC and safe home all!

Okay people! I have a review up for your perusal. No photos as none were allowed, but there is plenty of banter to laugh about. It was a fun show!

    Re: Atlantic City HOB Show

Wow Anne- you may be 56 but your memory is way better than mine! Thanks for all the reminders from the show- and I wasn't even drinking! (had to drive). I was up in the VIP lounge and it was a blast ! All but Chris was there and they were sweet and funny and chatty.Very accomadating for pictures. I chatted with Sean  for a spell, He mentioned that they will be playing the Nokia theater in Manhattan in September before the Albany show. He also stated that he was worried about a potential heavy police presence at the Celtic Fest today and was worried for GBS fans which I thought was pretty classy. Alan was bubbly as ever but I had a hard time hearing Murray and Bob- my ears were still muffled from the show. All in all a great time! Can't wait to see the pictures!  P.S. Sharn we asked about a show in Novia Scotia. Bob and Murray said they know of no shows planned there. Horatia, Lyndz and Chiarascurra really pleaded your cause. You'd be proud of them!

Thanks for the review Anne, excellent!  Sounds like it was a great show.

Still no "1-2-3-4," huh?  I have a feeling it's not going to be on the next album.  So sad.

    Re: Atlantic City HOB Show

First I want to thank Joyce(seaworthy), Annie(Annie from Philly) and Nancy for showing up at the suite Friday night before the show. We had a great time meeting GBS fans (Oh if only more of you responded to my request to show up at the suite...plenty of food and beer left over) The show was great being that close. The sound was not the best but who cares when you are close enough to see the boys up close whithout someone in your way. I can't wait till the NY shows (I WILL STAY TO MEET THE BOYS THIS TIME, JOYCE) Once again thanks Joyce, Annie and Nancy for showing up at the suite. It was fun. Till the next show. C ya.
