amyjustamy: annaonthemoon79: Robin4Song:Yeah, the wasted guy with the glow stick pushed right through us. I was so glad when they pulled him out of the crowd. There was another really wasted guy trying to get up front too, but no one would let him. He could barely talk he was so cooked. Oh, and the band we were listening to in-between Carbon Leaf and GBS we were joking sounding like Satan gone Irish Death Metal. LOL! Still glad we went; couldn't miss an opportunity to see GBS!!
Was that the guy who was trying to touch everyone inappropriately?
Becca -- I had THAT guy (Mr. Inappropriate Touch) removed. I called security over, let them know he was drunk and touching women inappropriately. They took his beer away and then plucked him out of the crowd as easily if he were a sack of potatoes. Made the concert MUCH more enjoyable :)
Sure did! I didn't get grabbed by him, but my friend Maggie did. At one point, something touched my butt and I turned around to give a glare to whichever guy it was who was trying to grab me,and it turned out to be the purse of the woman behind me.

Re: Shamrockfest @ RFK/D.C.
I believe the band right before CL, on the small stage, might have been Unforgettable Fire. I could be wrong, but they were covering U2 songs, and I know Unforgettable Fire on the Shamrockfest list. (They're a U2 cover band. I once profiled them for my college paper - we needed an article within 12 hours, so I just googled a bunch of NYC area bands and they were the only ones nice enough to respond.)

TinaCap:That's exactly what happened to me on the Ships and Dip Cruise in a venue with permanent seating. It was so bizarre. GBS ended. Guster was on deck. We were all standing at the end of the stage. A lot of people were still clapping after the GBS encore. I turned sideways to say something to my husband and in a blink a couple of pushy Gusteritas wedged themselves in front of us. They had to lean over the lip of the stage to fit. Lord love a duck! ~~snip~~ The blessing and curse is we all have free choice in how we behave and respond and interact with strangers in a situation like that. Why can't we humans just get along? ZUT ALORS!
I was watching Jon Stewart last night, and he was commenting on a speach made by Barack Obama. Stewart's comment was something like, "The strange thing is that he was making a rational argument as if he were talking to a group of adults!" LOL It'd be funnier if it weren't so true. Hmmm. I do like Guster though. Wish I'd been on that cruise! I'd like to add my thanks to those posting pics. The ones from my phone are terrible. :p I didn't think I'd need my camera since I've seen GBS 300 times or something. :) Muppet - If you're talking about the band that played before CL on the main stage, it was the Danny Mcllaughlin band. (I swear that's how they spelled it.) Cheers! Emerald

Hahaha!!! I'm biting my tongue, in keyboarding speak I guess that means typing--deleting--retyping--deleting, etc.
If I were sitting down to a pot of tea or bottle of wine right now I'd have plenty to say on the topic. It would be interesting to see for starters how different people even define 'adult'. I like Jon Stewart.
As for the cruise, if you want to go next year, go to sixthman.net and register. If it's like The Rock Boat's current pre-sale, Sixthman will hold 15% of tickets back for new cruisers to book in the public sale which follows. That'll probably happen next month sometime.

Robin4Song:Paulawalla - it was Cherry that said she heard two GBS songs at the Brogue. I took it to mean she heard via a cover band or on a sound track; if GBS was really there I will croak!!!! The Brogue is 15 min. from my house and we went almost right by there on the way home. Cherry, please clarify!!!!!!! Robin
Hey sorry! No they weren't AT the Brogue. It just played over the speakers between sets of Ted Garber (also kinda not a bad show but kinda frat partyish). We were treated to Sally Ann and When I'm Up. I like that place. It's kinda a hole in the wall kinda place but it's not a franchise. Locally owned and operated. Gotta say though, it's one helluva ride at midnight back to Tysons with a backseat full of drunks and a migraine!

Re: Shamrockfest @ RFK/D.C.
I kinda figured that was the case. Yeah, the Brogue is a cool place; have been there many times. My husband gets very clastraphobic in there so we don't go as often as we use to. If you go to their website, it plays GBS "Goin' Up." Cool!!!! Another cool Irish restaurant/bar is O'Faolain's in Sterling. I saw Ted Garber sometime back at Fox Chase Tavern - also in Sterling. And, yeah, I know what it's like being the DD. I always say I'm never going to do it again and I always do. I go for the music; everybody else goes to drink. Thanks for the clarification; I had to wonder about GBS coming all the way out to Great Falls! Cheers! Robin

Chiarascura: your photos are beautiful! i beleive you have mentioned having a Canon EOS something? i recently took the plunge into DSLRs, i have a Nikon d40. i didnt bring it to Shamrockfest, because i should clarify: i got the nikon for christmas, and as my parents continually remind me, its not MY camera. hehe.
your photos are always beautiful!
it's not so bad. **before you get mad at someone, walk a mile in their shoes. Because then you will be a mile away, and you will have their shoes**

Re: Shamrockfest @ RFK/D.C.
Thanks a lot, Paula :) It's actually not an SLR, it's an S3. My DSLR is my Nikon D70, but it's so big (especially if I want to bring the big zoom lens) that I generally don't travel with it. I like the S3, though - at least till I feel I need one of the newer, lighter DSLRs :)
Loved your pictures, too - especially that one clear one of Sean. I didn't get a single clear shot of him in DC.

I think the band was Dan McLaughlin band. They had a bass player from Brooklyn nyc and were pretty cool at mixing rhythms. I had fun watching them but didn't buy the cd. Maybe next time. Anyhow Danny mc laughlin was playing the bagpipes.

The band that played on the small stage (Tenon Tours) just before Carbon Leaf was Icewagon Flu, and they're from Hoboken NJ. And to reply to an earlier post.... I was able to catch most of the Charm City Saints set (Jefe's band). We missed 1 or 2 songs because of traffic, parking, etc. They sounded really good! And I'm not biased because Jefe is my brother either.

Re: Shamrockfest @ RFK/D.C.
What a great show! This was my first GBS show, but definitely not my last. It was cool the Russel was up there as well, made for a nice treat. Does GBS allow their shows to be recorded/traded? I'd love to be able to listen again. And to the people that had to deal with the rowdy crowd on the train that night... if you were in the train with the Irish singalongs, sorry, that was me and my buddy, haha. All the beer you can drink, gotta expect such shenanigans!
