    Hawksley Workman re: GBS

Found this article today, in which producer Hawksley Workman talks about working with Great Big Sea:

    here's part:

"Everybody’s been saying I seem like an odd choice for Great Big Sea, but those fellows really wanted to take the bricks out of the house and put it back together again. They’re very smart and very funny; I never felt so dumb and so not funny as I did during those six weeks that I was in Newfoundland."

and here's the link to the rest of the article in the Nova Scotia Chronicle Herald

Diana2 -- Go back and watch the video from the studio --    behind the scenes footage in the studio with GBS and Hawksley. It's buried down on the front page of the website -- maybe September or October -- really cool.  I am bummed that Hawksley's doesn't have any US tour dates listed-- hoping for an east coast date or two after Europe!

    Re: Hawksley Workman re: GBS

There was something in the Newfoundland Herald from Hawksley Workman as well. They did an interview with him, I believe.

..."They were very different records, but both of them were very exciting to produce," Workman stated in a phone interview with The Herald about the upcoming projects. "Both the Great Big Sea and the Hey Rosetta! record are records that I'm extremely, extremely proud to be a part of."

"With Great Big Sea, those guys wanted to try and make something new and different. We were writing together and it was very much about a spontaneous feel. I was very involved with them on a ground level with them and that was wonderful." He's very complimentary about working with the famed Newfoundland traditional band.

"Those guys are three of the smartest people I've ever met and also, three of the funniest people I've ever met," he says with a chuckle. "I never felt so dumb and not funny in my whole life. We went to a lot of different places musically."

Argghhh... that article is such a teaser for the new GBS album.... lol. Some of us are a wee bit impatient for it to come out - guess no date yet eh?  Although I suppose it's got to be this spring sometime...

Haven't heard Hawksley before, but think I may give a listen to some of this stuff.

    Thanks for the info...
