Seals saved, turtles still in trouble

This is a Massachusetts-centered article, but notable for the inclusion of a rather sensible quote from someone at least tangentially linked to IFAW.  Curiouser and curiouser...

It is a hard choice to make. But I understand, seal populations are rising and sea turtle populations are still going down. It is sad, I want to see a real live leatherback (they can grow up to 3 meters from head to tail and weigh in at over 900kg), and not in a zoo, in the wild, out in the ocean. Impressive sight...

Sadly, most of the concern will be for the cute animals, the ones that look good on posters and flyers. Not the ones who have beauty in their own unique way. People just need to understand...

And, as you well know, it's not a lack of information that's causing most of the trouble.  It's active disinformation on the part of "conservationists" who know they can pay themselves handsomely for "saving" cute species who aren't in danger, while letting folks like the one in your avatar suffer horrible fates because they don't have poster appeal or immediately evident economic value.  That's why I was so astonished to see such a blunt quote from someone linked to IFAW - they're notorious for that.
