After seeing the fun that people around here are having with their websites I've decided to dust mine off the shelf & redesign it. I haven't quite decided everything that's going to go on it... probably not going to be an ode to Bob (I know that deep inside that makes him really sad)... but it will be fun. If anyone wants to take a peek, drop by http://www.thursdayschild.ca ... just like me, it has far to go. Content will be coming soon, right now its just a blank layout & blog.
My real purpose for this thread though is not necessarily shameless self promotion... I have a question for everyone.
For people with Webpages:
1) When you designed your site, what was your idea / concept behind your design (ease of use for: the reader?, the developer?, fast loading time?, sleek / seamless design?)
2) What programs / scripts do you like to use to create / update your site?
3) Who is your page host & why did you pick them?
4) If there is one thing that you could do to your site to improve it (this can be a fantasy script that doesn't yet exist) what would you do?
For people without Webpages:
1) When you search the web what things do you like to see on webpages
2) What page content do you like to interact with (polls, quizzes, galleries, forums, text [brief / to the point or deep & thoughtful])
3) If you could put anything on the net (content, idea, attitude) what would it be?
4) What's the most common thing that web developers get wrong? Think of sites you visit often. Do developers do something that alienates their intended audience. What would you suggest to bridge the gap?
I think that's it for now. I look forward to your input.
