Re: Altamont NY - Sept 20 - Irish Music Fest

Its nuts that they'll be 20 minutes from my house for the second time in under a year-ish...

You guys seems like a great group...maybe I'll have some Screech ready and waiting for any folks who would be so gracious  as to check out my town and see the boys.

The whole Altamont fest should be fantastic... Carbon Leaf... Gaelic Storm, GBS... and a wack of others.

    Will be a fantastic show.

Question - you familiar w/ the camping in the area? We're debating doing the tenting thing as opposed to a hotel.

We're kicking around camping too.  Not too many campgrounds in the area, especially ones with cabins.  Please let me know if you find anything worthwhile!

We have no camping gear but let me know if you find cabins, I'd be up for that with you.

We're planning on tenting... but will check around when I'm checking things out to see if there are cabin sites.  Think there are a bunch of us from this area comin down together for that... can't resist all those fantastic artists in one place for so cheap a price!

It's worth the drive to Altamont!

Re: Altamont NY - Sept 20 - Irish Music Fest

Someday... maybe after college or perhaps as soon as next summer, I would love to be able to go on a road trip and see the b'ys!!!  And this sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'd lovelovelovelovelove to go to!  (I can hear Mom already:  "You're going WHERE??  WHEN??  For WHAT??  With WHO??  For HOW LONG??  With WHAT money??")

Just checked Gaelic Storm's website last week to find that they won't be at the Berea Irish Festival this year.crying  Maybe I misread it, or maybe it was wrong...Crying  Figures, now that I've really become a fan, they won't be there... *sigh* Oh, well.  Maybe next year.

Squeezy, I'm over 40 years old and I get that from my Mom every time I pack a suitcase.  The questions are generally followed by an eye roll.  Waiting for her to call the guys with the white jackets to have me locked away one of these days.  Confused

    ROAD TRIPS!!!

Squeezy, Kim - I love road trips. I'd love to be there with all my guys enjoying every blessed minute. I bought tix for this festival in a fit of incorrigible optimism a couple months ago and I think it'll be simply AMAZING, but now that GBS is coming here a month earlier, I doubt I will use them. Still, hanging onto them for the moment. Angel Hope dies hard in this house. Music

Re: Altamont NY - Sept 20 - Irish Music Fest

Ah, Upstate, NY.  My old stompin' grounds.

If I remember correctly, I went to the IrishFest at the Fairgrounds about 10 years ago (I could be mistaken though, I've been to a lot of Irish Fests).  It was a heck of a lot of fun.  Lots (LOTS) of people, lots of great music, lots of beer.  Get there early if you want decent parking.

There are a lot of nearby lakes that have cabins though.  Try Thompson's Lake in East Berne.  It's not that far and quite pretty in the summer/early fall.

Re: Altamont NY - Sept 20 - Irish Music Fest

Thanks for the suggestion of Thompson's.  Geographically it's perfect, but no cabins.

The addition of the Friday night NYC show has changed my thinking about the Albany show.  If I do get up to Albany, I think I might just opt for a hotel now.  It would be so sweet seeing the b'ys on back to back days!

Got my tickets to Albany. Not sure yet what I can do for the night before. I guess I'll have to figure it out if/when it's made official ***please give me more than 18hours notice of a pre-sale. I'm not sane under pressure***
